The Competizione dell'Opera is an international singing competition formerly based in Germany for singers specializing in Italian opera.
In 1996, an international singing competition was founded that focused on Italian operas: "I Cestelli Competizione dell' Opera". Following its two appearances in Hamburg in 1996 and 1998, the competition took place in Dresden from 2001-2010.
The participants of the competition apply with sixth different arias in the qualifying round for semi final of the Italian Opera. The best ten out of the qualifying rounds are able to participate at the final.
Singers who were once finalists and winners of the competition include Marina Mescheriakova, Ashley Holland, Lado Ataneli, Anja Harteros, Carla Maria Izzo, Woo-Kyung Kim, and Latonia Moore. The international jury comprises representatives from the major European opera houses and festivals, artists' managers, famous singers, directors and representatives from the media and from music academies. In 2008 the finals concert took place in the Semperoper in Dresden with the Saarländischen Rundfunks Symphony Orchestra.
Meanwhile the competition moved to Russia (2011, 2016, 2022), leaded by Hans-Joachim Frey.

Anne Schwanewilms is a German soprano who sings Lyric, Spinto, and Dramatic Soprano roles. She studied gardening before training in Cologne as a singer with the German bass Hans Sotin. She is particularly associated with performing the works of Richard Wagner, Franz Schreker, Alban Berg, and Richard Strauss.
Erkki Korhonen is a Finnish pianist, conductor and former director of the Finnish National Opera.
Burak Bilgili is a Turkish operatic bass-baritone who was born in Akşehir, a town in the Konya Province of Turkey. He has sung in leading opera houses in the United States and Europe.
Zhang Jie, also known as Jason Zhang, is a Chinese pop singer. He made his television series debut in the reality singing competition My Show in 2004, which he won.
Armando Chin Yong, also known as Chen Rong in Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, was a Malaysian opera singer. He received much of his singing education in Rome, Italy and Vienna, Austria.

Hans-Joachim Frey is a German cultural manager. From 1997 to 2007, he was Artistic Director of Operations and Director of Opera at the Semperoper in Dresden from 2007 to 2010 and general director at the Theater Bremen. In January 2013 he was responsible in the European Capital of Culture in Linz as a board director and artistic director of Liva, where he was also on the Bruckner House, the International Bruckner Festival and the clouds of sound.
Eytan Pessen is a pianist and voice teacher, currently at the Opera houses of Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Vienna (Volksoper), Zürich and international festivals. He was former opera director of the Semperoper in Dresden, artistic advisor to Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and former casting director of the Staatstheater Stuttgart.
The Queen Sonja Singing Competition is a music competition for young singers taking place every two years in Oslo, Norway. The competition was arranged for the first time in 1988. Participants are selected by a screening committee on the basis of recordings submitted in the application process. 40 singers are invited to the competition in Oslo. The competition programme includes preliminary rounds, a semi-final and final, as well as masterclasses, career development sessions, concerts and social events. The last competition was 15 - 26 August 2023. The next competition will be held in Oslo in August 2025.
The International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition is an annual competition for young opera singers. It has been described as "THE 'springboard' for a career in opera", or the "singers' stock exchange, the 'Wall Street of Voices'".

Hanns-Herbert Schulz, better known as Hanns Petersen, was a German opera singer (baritone), music college teacher and pop singer. He is known for his career in popular music (Schlager), his many operatic performances at the Semperoper and the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and his work as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber and Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar.

Egils Siliņš is a Latvian bass-baritone. He graduated from the Latvian Academy of Music and made his operatic debut at the Latvian National Opera in 1988. He has won multiple international singing competitions and since November 5, 2019, he is Chairman of the Board of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.
