Consider This was a weeknight current events talk show on Al Jazeera America television hosted by Antonio Mora. The program featured interviews and panel discussions on the stories of the day. Consider This also featured interactive segments where the audience joins the conversation via social media.^[1] The show was produced and shot from New York City and was produced from the same studio as Real Money with Ali Velshi , another show on Al Jazeera America. Consider This airs from 10pm to 11pm eastern time, Monday through Friday. There were repeats in the morning and on weekends.

Al Jazeera America (AJAM) was an American basic cable and satellite news television channel owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network. The channel was launched on August 20, 2013 to compete with CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Fox News, and in certain markets, RT America. The channel was Al Jazeera's second entry into the U.S. television market, after the launch of beIN Sport in 2012. The channel, which had persistently low ratings, announced in January 2016 that it would close on April 12, 2016, citing the "economic landscape".

Antonio Mora is a multiple Emmy Award winning journalist and television news anchor. He is best known for his years at ABC News, including his four years as the news anchor and chief correspondent for Good Morning America. He was an anchor on Al Jazeera America and its 9pm news broadcast. For the first year and a half of the network's existence, he acted as the host of a show called Consider This. He was the first Hispanic American male to anchor a primetime newscast in Chicago and one of the only Hispanic American males to anchor a national broadcast news show.

The show also took questions from social media. That part of the show was hosted by Hermela Aregawi.

History

On July 26, 2013 the network announced that former Good Morning America host and award-winning journalist Antonio Mora would host a current events talk show called Consider This. The first episode of the show highlighted the hunger strike and court-approved force-feeding in California's prison system. Other episodes have highlighted issues such as the U.S. education system, sexual assault on college campuses, foreign issues, Native American issues, LGBT issues, poverty, the government, science, and investigative reports. Notable guests have included former president Jimmy Carter and racing legend Jackie Stewart among others. The show absorbed much of the former Current TV staff based in New York City that had been part of the show Viewpoint .

Good Morning America (GMA) is an American morning television show that is broadcast on ABC. It debuted on November 3, 1975, and first expanded to weekends with the debut of a Sunday edition on January 3, 1993. The Sunday edition was canceled in 1999; weekend editions returned on both Saturdays and Sundays on September 4, 2004. The weekday program airs from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all U.S. time zones. The Saturday and Sunday editions are one hour long and are transmitted to ABC's stations live at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time, although stations in some markets air them at different times. Viewers in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports. A third hour of the weekday broadcast aired from 2007 to 2008, exclusively on ABC News Now.

James Earl Carter Jr. is an American politician and philanthropist who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981. A Democrat, he previously served as a Georgia State senator from 1963 to 1967 and as the 76th governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975. Carter has remained active in public life during his post-presidency, and in 2002 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in co-founding the Carter Center.

Sir John Young "Jackie" Stewart, is a British former Formula One racing driver from Scotland. Nicknamed the "Flying Scot", he competed in Formula One between 1965 and 1973, winning three World Drivers' Championships, and twice finishing as runner-up over those nine seasons.

The show was cancelled on February 2, 2015 after a reorganization of Al Jazeera America's programming schedule.

It was later replaced by the weekly program Third Rail.

Josephine Victoria "Joy" Behar is an American comedian, writer, and actress. She co-hosts the ABC daytime talk show The View. She hosted The Joy Behar Show on HLN from 2009 to 2011 and Joy Behar: Say Anything! on Current TV, from 2012 until the channel switched formats in August 2013. Behar's latest weekly late-night talk show, Late Night Joy, aired on TLC in 2015. She also wrote The Great Gasbag: An A–Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World.

This Week, originally titled as This Week with David Brinkley and currently billed as This Week with George Stephanopoulos, is an American Sunday morning political affairs program airing on the ABC television network. It premiered in November 1981. The program is currently anchored by George Stephanopoulos and co-anchored by Martha Raddatz. The program airs live at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time although many stations air the program at a later slot to air local newscasts, especially those in other time zones. Since the departure of popular host David Brinkley in 1996, the program generally finishes last in viewer ratings among the big 3 American Sunday network policy and pundit talk shows, behind Meet The Press and Face The Nation.

Ali Velshi is a Canadian television journalist, a senior economic and business correspondent for NBC News since October 2016 and co-anchor with Stephanie Ruhle of Velshi & Ruhle on MSNBC. Known for his work on CNN, he was CNN's Chief Business Correspondent, Anchor of CNN's Your Money and a co-host of CNN International's weekday business show World Business Today. In 2013, he joined Al Jazeera America, a channel that launched in August of that year. He hosted Ali Velshi on Target until Al Jazeera America ceased operations on April 12, 2016. He has worked for MSNBC since October 2016.

Viewpoint is an American political talk show broadcast on Current TV in 2012 and 2013. Formerly known as Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer, it was hosted by former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer until January 6, 2013. After that, it was hosted by John Fugelsang. Viewpoint began airing on March 30, 2012 as a replacement to Keith Olbermann, who was dismissed from his show in the same time slot. Ali Velshi on Target was a daily thirty-minute program on Al Jazeera America hosted by Ali Velshi that focuses on current affairs which provides context and analysis around current political and economic issues along with interviews.

Al Jazeera America News, also referred to as Al Jazeera America Newshour or simply News, is a news program that aired on Al Jazeera America. The program aired several times a day on Al Jazeera America and was supplemented with Newshour from Al Jazeera English. The two programs often shared international correspondents. The program, featured national news, international news, weather, technology and sports reports, was known to carry more international news per broadcast than any other domestic news program.
