The Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, often abbreviated CSUN or UNLV CSUN, is the student body government at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It is a body funded by student fees and serves to represent the students needs on campus at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Executive Board of the Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas consists of the President, Vice President, Senate President, Vice President Pro Tempore, Senate President Pro Tempore, and various directors. [1] The various directors have their own duties and answer directly to the Vice President. The Senate President organizes and runs senate meetings as well as acts as a manager for the senate with the power to dismiss.
The Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Senate consists of 25 members representing each of the nine colleges at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. [1] Historically, the UNLV CSUN Senate meets weekly during the fall and spring semesters and biweekly during the summer semester. However, ultimately, the Senate President holds supreme power in deciding how to schedule meetings. Senators hold their position for a one year term beginning with the first Senate meeting in November in which they are sworn in. [1]
The Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has six Senate Committees including Ways and Means, Constitutional Revisions, Senate Development, Safety and Awareness, Rules and Ethics, and Bylaws. [2]
The Judicial Council of the Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas serves as body that helps maintain the balance of power throughout UNLV CSUN. They apply the UNLV CSUN constitution and bylaws to any case presented to them. They are led by the Chief Justice. [1]
The Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas sometimes sponsors and offers funding for student organizations and clubs unless otherwise dictated by the politics of Senate. However, funding may vary depending on the fiscal views of the Senate. [3] More than 8% of CSUN's budget goes to fund the student newspaper, The Rebel Yell.
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is a public land-grant research university in Paradise, Nevada. The 332-acre (134 ha) campus is about 1.6 mi (2.6 km) east of the Las Vegas Strip. It was formerly part of the University of Nevada from 1957 to 1969. The Georgetown University Student Association (GUSA) is the undergraduate student government of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The Phi Kappa Literary Society is a college literary society, located at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and is one of the few active literary societies left in America. Founded in 1820, the society continues to meet every academic Thursday of the fall and spring semesters at 7 pm at Phi Kappa Hall on the University of Georgia's North Campus. The Phi Kappa Literary Society holds formal debates and a forum for creative writings and orations as well as poetry.

The Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies, commonly known as DiPhi or The Societies, are the original collegiate debating societies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and together comprise the oldest student organization at the University, as well as the oldest public student organization in the United States. During the academic year, the Societies hold regular meetings at 7:30 PM on Mondays in the Dialectic Chamber.
The William F. Harrah College of Hospitality offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in hospitality management at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Named after William F. Harrah, the founder of Harrah's Entertainment, the school is highly ranked in national and international surveys of hospitality programs. In 2017 and 2018, the college was ranked number one in the world for hospitality and leisure by QS World University Rankings.
The William S. Boyd School of Law is the law school of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and the only law school in Nevada. It is named after William S. Boyd, a Nevada attorney and co-founder of Boyd Gaming Corporation who provided the initial funding for the school. The school opened in 1998 and graduated its first class in 2001.
The Nevada Senate is the upper house of the Nevada Legislature, the state legislature of U.S. state of Nevada, the lower house being the Nevada Assembly. It currently (2012–2021) consists of 21 members from single-member districts. In the previous redistricting (2002–2011) there were 19 districts, two of which were multimember. Since 2012, there have been 21 districts, each formed by combining two neighboring state assembly districts. Each State Senator represented approximately 128,598 as of the 2010 United States Census. Article Four of the Constitution of Nevada sets that State Senators serve staggered four-year terms.
The Presiding Officer of the United States Senate is the person who presides over the United States Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices, and precedents. Senate presiding officer is a role, not an actual office. The actual role is usually performed by one of three officials: the Vice President; an elected United States Senator; or, in special cases, the Chief Justice. Outside the constitutionally mandated roles, the actual appointment of a person to do the job of presiding over the Senate as a body is governed by Rule I of the Standing Rules.
The Nevada State Democratic Party (NSDP) is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Nevada. It has been chaired by Judith Whitmer since March 2021.
The Indiana University Student Government (IUSG) is the undergraduate student body government at Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana. IUSG consists three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. In addition to these three main branches, IUSG is also responsible for the Assisted Inter-Organization Development Funding Board, The IUSA Funding Board allocates funds for student programming and initiatives.
The UMSL Student Government Association (SGA) is a student run government set up to provide a voice for students when dealing with administration of the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL). SGA has three branches, executive, legislative and judicial, and also a constitution. SGA was started in 1963 when the University was founded and has been through many constitutional changes, the most recent in 2004. SGA includes members from every student organization and students from every college on campus. This government incorporates both undergraduate and graduate in its student body. UMSL's SGA, along with the 3 other campuses in the University of Missouri System student governments sends two members to a meeting of what is called the Intercampus Student Council. SGA has been involved in many changes for students around the campus, including getting funds for the Bentan Hall renovation. It is responsible for approving student fees before they go to the board of curators of the University of Missouri System and divides out the campus Activity's Fees to fund student organization's budgets.
The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) at Stony Brook University is a governing body representing the undergraduate students of Stony Brook University. As with most student governments in the United States, one of USG's main functions is to recognize, fund and regulate student organizations. The USG is composed of an executive and a legislative branch; a judicial branch existed until a constitutional amendment removed it in 2019. Along with the Graduate Student Organization, USG is the only other organization authorized to distribute the Student Activity Fee (SAF) in a viewpoint-neutral manner. In accordance with State University of New York Policies and Procedures, the mandatory SAF provides the USG with an annual budget of approximately $3.1 million, independently of the state budget.
The George Washington University Student Association is the student government of the George Washington University in Washington, DC. The SA is responsible for advocacy on behalf of the GW student body at and is modeled after the U.S. Federal Government and consists of three branches: legislative, executive and judicial.
The University of Central Florida Student Government is the student body government for the University of Central Florida, a metropolitan public research university located in Orlando, Florida, United States. It is the largest Student Government within the state of Florida and one of the largest in the United States. Jerome D. Mack was an American banker, real estate investor, political fundraiser and philanthropist in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the founder and president of the Bank of Las Vegas and, later, the Valley Bank. He was the president of the Riviera casino as well as director of the Four Queens and Dunes casinos. He was a major fundraiser for the Nevada Democratic Party and active in Jewish philanthropy both in Las Vegas and Israel. He was one of the founders of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Medicine, is an academic division of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with 60 students matriculated on July 17, 2017. The students began their education with a 6 week EMT course. The school is the first to grant the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Southern Nevada. The school uses facilities in the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMCSN) clinical building at the Las Vegas Medical District.
