Luis Mariano Ospina Pérez, commonly known as Mariano Ospina Pérez, was a Colombian politician and a member of the Colombian Conservative Party. He served as the 17th President of Colombia between 1946 and 1950.

In 2003 Congress also approved the Law of Cinema which helped to restart the cinematographic industry in Colombia.
Tomás Carrasquilla Naranjo (1858 – 1940) was a Colombian writer who lived in the Antioquia region. He dedicated himself to very simple jobs: tailor, secretary of a judge, storekeeper in a mine, and worker at the Ministry of Public Works. He was an avid reader, and one of the most original Colombian literary writers, greatly influencing the younger generation of his time and later generations. Carrasquilla was little known in his time, according to Federico de Onís, a scholar of Carrasquilla's works. It was only after 1936, when he was already 68 years old, when he was awarded with the National Prize of Literature, that Carrasquilla got a national recognition. Tomás Carrasquilla Library Park is named in his honor.

La tragedia del silencio is a Colombian silent melodrama film directed by Arturo Acevedo Vallarino and first screened on 18 July 1924 at the Faenza theatre in Bogotá. Filmed in black and white, it tells the story of a man suffering from leprosy. It was the first Colombian film during the silent film era with a film score, which was performed during the projection and was written by Alberto Urdaneta Forero.
Pablo José Montoya Campuzano is a Colombian writer. He is best known for his novel Tríptico de la infamia which won the Romulo Gallegos Prize in 2015. He is as of 2016, the fifth Colombian to obtain this recognition, being preceded by Gabriel García Márquez in 1972, Manuel Mejía Vallejo in 1989, Fernando Vallejo in 2003 and William Ospina in 2009. He studied music at Escuela Superior de música de Tunja and holds a degree in philosophy and literature from Universidad Santo Tomás in Bogotá. He obtained his master's and doctorate in Hispanic and Latin American Studies from the University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle.
Gonzalo Correal Urrego is a Colombian anthropologist, palaeontologist and archaeologist. He has been contributing to the knowledge of prehistoric Colombia for over forty years and has published in Spanish and English. Correal Urrego is considered one of the most important anthropologists of Colombia. He has collaborated with many other anthropologists and archaeologists, among others Thomas van der Hammen and Ana María Groot.
