The men's cross country mountain biking competition at the 2006 Commonwealth Games took place on 23 March at Lysterfield Park.

Mountain biking is a sport of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially designed mountain bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain. Mountain biking can generally be broken down into multiple categories: cross country, trail riding, all mountain, downhill, freeride and dirt jumping.

The 2006 Commonwealth Games, officially the XVIII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Melbourne 2006, were an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia between 15 and 26 March 2006. It was the fourth time Australia had hosted the Commonwealth Games. It was also the largest sporting event to be staged in Melbourne, eclipsing the 1956 Summer Olympics in terms of the number of teams competing, athletes competing, and events being held.

Lysterfield Park Protected area in Victoria, Australia

The Lysterfield Park is a public park located in the Greater Melbourne region of Victoria, Australia. The 1,398-hectare (3,450-acre) park is situated approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of the Melbourne central business district, adjacent to the suburb of Lysterfield in the City of Casey. When combined with the adjacent Churchill National Park, the two parks comprise 1,668 hectares in the Dandenong Valley and the Dandenong Ranges that are a haven for native birds, mammals and reptiles, and provide recreational opportunities.
