The World Youth Chess Championship is a FIDE-organized worldwide chess competition for boys and girls under the age of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. Twelve world champions are crowned every year. Since 2015, the event has been split into "World Cadets Chess Championship" and "World Youth Chess Championship".

The European Junior Swimming Championships is an annual swimming competition for European swimmers organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation and held over five days. The competitor age for females was 15 to 16 years; for males it is 17 to 18 years until 2015. From 2016 the competitor age is for females 14 to 17 years and for males 15 to 18 years.
The 2010 European Junior Swimming Championships were held from 14–18 July 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. The Championships were organized by LEN, the European Swimming League, and were held in a 50 m pool. Ages for competitors, per LEN rules are: girls-15 or 16 years old; boys-17 or 18 years old.
The athletics competition at the 2011 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival was held from 25 to 29 July 2011. The events took place at the Söğütlü Athletics Stadium in Trabzon, Turkey. Boys and girls born 1994 or 1995 or later participated 36 track and field events, divided evenly between the sexes.
The football competition at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics took place at the Wutaishan Stadium and the Jiangning Sports Center, both located in Nanjing, China, between 14–27 August 2014. There were two tournaments, one for boys and one for girls. Players must be 15 years old to be eligible to participate.
The 2013 African Youth Athletics Championships were the first edition of the biennial athletics competition for African athletes aged fifteen to seventeen. It was held in Warri, Nigeria, on 28–31 March. A total of 40 events were originally scheduled but only 36 went ahead, 17 for boys and 19 for girls.
