The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre (233 ft) tall stone statue, built between 713 and 803, depicting Maitreya. It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan province in China, near the city of Leshan. The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below its feet. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world.
The Daxue Range or Daxue Mountains (Chinese: 大雪山山脉, 大雪山; pinyin: Dàxuě Shān; Wade–Giles: Ta4-hsüeh3 Shan1; literally: 'Great Snow Mountains') are a great mountain range in the western part of Sichuan province in Southwest China. It is part of the Hengduan Mountains, a complicated system of mountain ranges of western Sichuan, which itself is adjacent to the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau.
Qiangic, formerly known as Dzorgaic, is a group of related languages within the Sino-Tibetan language family. They are spoken mainly in Southwest China, including Sichuan, Tibet and Yunnan. Most Qiangic languages are distributed in the prefectures of Ngawa, Garzê, Ya'an, and Liangshan in Sichuan with some in northern Yunnan as well.
The Pubugou Dam is a concrete face rock-fill embankment dam on the Dadu River, a tributary of the Yangtze River in Sichuan Province. The main purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and its total generating capacity is 3,300 MW.

The Dadu Plateau, also known as Dadu Mountain or Dadushan, stretches across Taichung City in central-western Taiwan. It faces the Taichung Basin on the east and the seacoast of Taichung on the west, and lies between the Dajia River and Dadu River. The plateau is long and narrow, has a length of about 20 km, and a width of about 5 to 7 km. It average height is about 151 m, with a highest peak which has a height of 310 m.
Luqiao, Sichuan is a town in the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan, China, and forms the urban centre of Luding County. Luqiao's population is concentrated along the Dadu River at the edge of the Daxue Mountains.
Qionglai Mountains is a mountain range in the Sichuan Province of China. It runs in the general north-south direction, and is located mostly within the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, in the north-central part of the province.

The Xiaoxiang Range is a mountain range in Sichuan Province, China. It is part of a complicated system of mountains in south-central Sichuan, and runs in the general north-south direction within Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and the adjacent parts of Ya'an prefecture-level city.
The Nanya River is the primary right tributary of the middle Dadu River — in Sichuan Province, southern China. The Dadu is a tributary of the upper Yangtze River.
The Shuangjiangkou Dam(Chinese: 双江口大坝/双江口水电站), also referred to as Shuang Jiang Kou(Chinese: 双江口), is an embankment dam currently being constructed on the Dadu River in Sichuan Province, China. When completed, the 312 metres (1,024 ft) tall dam will be the tallest dam in the world. Preliminary construction began in 2008 and the entire project is expected to be complete in 2018. By April 2011, over 200,000,000 m3 (261,590,124 cu yd) of material had been excavated from the construction site. In March 2013 the China's Ministry of Environmental Protection approved construction on the dam's superstructure and associated facilities. The government acknowledged that the dam would have negative impacts on the environment but that developers were working to mitigate them. The dam is being built by the Guodian Group at a cost of US$4.02 billion. The entire construction period is expected to last 10 years.
The Dagangshan Dam is an arch dam on the Dadu River in Shimian County, Ya'an, Sichuan Province, China. The dam houses a hydroelectric power station with 4 x 650 MW generators for a total installed capacity of 2,600 MW. Construction on the dam began in 2008 and the power plant in 2010. The first two generators were commissioned on 2 September 2015, and the entire project was completed in 2016.
Hucho bleekeri, or the Sichuan taimen, is a species of freshwater fish in the salmon family (Salmonidae), endemic to the Yangtze basin in China. Its typical habitat is mountain streams and small rivers and it is found in the catchment areas of the Dadu River in Sichuan and Qinghai Provinces, and the Hanjiang River. It is a grey fish with a silvery belly growing to a length of 72 cm. Populations of this fish are declining, it principally being threatened by habitat loss and illegal fishing, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has rated its conservation status as "critically endangered".
The 1786 Kangding-Luding earthquake occurred on 1 June 1786 in and around Kangding, in what is now China's Sichuan province. It had an estimated magnitude of about 7.75 and a maximum perceived intensity of X (Extreme) on the Mercalli intensity scale. Four-hundred and thirty-five people were killed during the mainshock. After an aftershock ten days later, a further 100,000 died when a landslide dam collapsed across the Dadu river.
Luding Bridge is a bridge over the Dadu River in Luding County, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, China, located about 80 kilometers west of the city of Ya'an. The bridge dates from the Qing Dynasty and is considered a historical landmark. It was an important crossing on the road between Sichuan and Tibet.
Qingyi River is a major river in western Sichuan. Qingyi means blueish-colored clothes. This name came from the local ancient kingdom Qingyi Qiang Kingdom, in which notable people preferred to wear blue clothes. Qingyi River is the longest tributary of Dadu River, and it is also a major river in upper Yangtze River system. The elevation difference between its source and mouth is more than 5000 meters.
