The Dallas Bar Association or DBA is a professional organization providing resources for attorneys and the public in the city of Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1873, the DBA is a voluntary professional association of over 11,800 lawyers.
The Dallas Bar Association (DBA) was founded by 40 lawyers in 1873, during an era that witnessed remarkable growth in the city of Dallas. As stated in its first charter - signed in 1916 by 100 members - the purpose of "the Bar Association of Dallas" was "for support of a literary undertaking and maintenance of a library."
The Dallas Bar Association has since been dedicated to the continuing education of its members as well as public service programs and the improvement of the administration of justice. For years, Association headquarters were housed in the offices of the then-current presidents. In 1937, headquarters were established in a small space under the stairs of the Old Red Courthouse.
Ten years later, the DBA was the state's first bar association to incorporate. Incorporators envisioned the Association someday being housed in its own building. In 1955, the DBA opened its offices, dining room, and meeting facilities on the lobby floor of the Adolphus Hotel. Membership jumped to nearly 1,500 lawyers by the end of the decade and the facilities were remodeled and expanded in 1965. In 1979, the 3,600-member Association moved into a restored home on Ross Avenue - the Arts District Mansion.

Founded in 1878, the ABA's stated activities are the setting of academic standards for law schools, and the formulation of model ethical codes related to the legal profession. As of fiscal year 2017, the ABA had 194,000 dues-paying members, constituting approximately 14.4% of American attorneys. In 1979, half of all lawyers in the U.S. were members of the ABA. The boundaries of the district comprise both sides of Swiss Avenue from Fitzhugh Street, to just north of La Vista, and includes portions of Bryan Parkway. The District includes the 6100-6200 blocks of La Vista Drive, the west side of the 5500 block of Bryan Parkway the 6100-6300 blocks of Bryan Parkway, the east side of the 5200-5300 block of Live Oak Street, and the 4900-6100 blocks of Swiss Avenue. The entire street of Swiss Avenue is not included within the bounds of the Swiss Avenue Historic District. Portions of the street run through Dallas' Peaks Suburban Addition neighborhood and Peak's Suburban Addition Historic District. 5215 Swiss was built in 1914 and was the home of J. P. Cranfield
The State Bar of Arizona is the integrated (mandatory) bar association of the U.S. state of Arizona. The Arizona Supreme Court licenses lawyers, while the State Bar administers the regulation of the practice of law. The State Bar, under the direction of the Court, establishes procedures for the discipline of lawyer misconduct and provides education and development programs for the legal profession and the public. The New York Women's Bar Association (NYWBA) is a non-profit organization devoted to improving the status of women in society, educating women lawyers, assisting them in professional development and advancement, and promoting the fair and equal administration of justice. The Association accomplishes these goals through the work of its committees, the presentation of continuing legal education programs, and the evaluation of judicial candidates. Through its affiliation with the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY), the Association also reviews and comments on proposed legislation and policy initiatives at the state, federal, and international levels that concern women and children.
Mike McKool is an American trial lawyer. He is co-founder and chairman of law firm McKool Smith. He represented music producer Quincy Jones in a legal battle against Michael Jackson's estate in 2017. McKool has tried more than 100 cases to juries, resulting in verdicts and judgments of more than $1 billion.
National Association of Muslim Lawyers (NAML) is an organization of Muslim lawyers founded in 1996 as 'Muslim JD'. In 2000, it was renamed to its current name. NAML conducts an annual conference with several hundred legal professionals participating in it, including Muslim attorneys federal judges, law professors, and law students. It is a 501(c)(6) organization according to the IRS in the year 2001. According to a brief in the Supreme Court (USA), NAML is the largest professional organization for American Muslim lawyers and "NAML’s activities include organizing educational programs on current legal topics of interest, supporting regional Muslim bar associations, and serving the law-related needs of the general public through community service efforts."
