The Bass Highway is an 87 kilometre highway in Victoria, Australia, branching off the South Gippsland Highway at the township of Lang Lang and running south, along the eastern shore of Western Port, to Anderson. The Bass Highway continues easterly to Kilcunda, Wonthaggi and Inverloch, then turns north-easterly to rejoin the South Gippsland Highway at Leongatha. It was named due to its proximity to the Bass Strait.

Not long after the line opened the station was equipped with a 10,000-gallon tank and crane, and was located within walking distance of the Kernot General Store which closed at the same time as the line did in 1978.

It was originally announced that the station would be called "Rees", but that name never seems to have been applied.

The name was changed to Glen Forbes in 1915. The station operated until the early 1970s, shortly before the closure of the Wonthaggi line.

Wonthaggi was a railway station located in the town of Wonthaggi, Victoria, Australia. Built to serve the town as well as the State Coal Mine, the station was the official terminus station of the Wonthaggi line, but two short branch lines continued from the station, leading to the Kirrak and Eastern Area mine extensions.
Koonwarra was a railway station on the South Gippsland line, in South Gippsland, Victoria. The station was opened during the 1890s and operated until 1992, when the line to Barry Beach, servicing the oil fields in Bass Strait, was closed. The line was then dismantled and turned into the Great Southern Rail Trail.
Eastern Area was a railway branch line built in the 1910s to service the State Coal Mine located in Wonthaggi. The Eastern Area Mine operated from 1919 to 1947 while this section of track operated until the 1950s.

The Merricks station grounds are now part of an equestrian facility. Part of the railway alignment between Red Hill and Merricks stations has also been converted into an equestrian and walking trail with the remaining majority of the line now located on private properties.
Balnarring railway station was located on the Red Hill railway line. The line was opened in 1921 and was one of the more short-lived branch lines on the Victorian Railways closing in 1953 along with a few other smaller branch lines in the railways system. Following official closure of the line, trains (railmotors) continued to run as far as Balnarring to cater for the Balnarring picnic races, Lord Somers camp and a Railway Historical Society tour in 1956. Part of the railway alignment between Red Hill and Merricks stations has been converted into an equestrian trail with the remaining majority of the line now located on private properties. The station is located in private property with almost no remains of the platform left.

Known originally as a train station at Powlett River near Wonthaggi, it is now the location of the Victorian Desalination Plant, and at the 2011 census, it had a population of 606. It's Bass Coast’s fastest-growing suburb, with the 2011 census showing Dalyston’s population more than doubled from 278 residents in 2006 to 606 in 2011.
The Tablelands railway line is a railway line in North Queensland, Australia. It was opened in a series of sections between 1887 and 1916. It commences at Cairns and at its maximum extent, reached Ravenshoe at the southern end of the Atherton Tableland. The rail system served by this line was unusual for Queensland in that the majority of lines that connected to it were built by private companies and later purchased by the Queensland Government.
