Videbæk is a town and a former municipality in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, Region Midtjylland. The town is close to Ringkøbing Fjord on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The former Videbæk municipality covered an area of 289 km2, and had a total population of 12,140 (2005). Its last mayor was Torben Nørregaard, a member of the Venstre political party.

The rescue of the Danish Jews occurred during Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark during World War II. On October 1, 1943, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler ordered Danish Jews to be arrested and deported. The Danish resistance movement, with the assistance of many Danish citizens, managed to evacuate 7,220 of Denmark's 7,800 Jews, plus 686 non-Jewish spouses, by sea to nearby neutral Sweden. These efforts started before Hitler's order due to the plans being leaked on September 28, 1943 by German diplomat Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz.

On 10 August 2017, Swedish freelance journalist Kim Wall boarded the midget submarine UC3 Nautilus, in Køge Bugt, Denmark, with the intent of interviewing its owner, Danish entrepreneur Peter Madsen. She was reported missing after Nautilus failed to return to Refshaleøen, Copenhagen. The submarine was found sunken the following morning and Madsen was arrested upon being rescued from the water. Between 21 August and 29 November, Wall's dismembered body parts were found in different locations around the area. Charged with her murder, Madsen was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment on 25 April 2018 by Copenhagen City Court following a widely publicised trial. The case is also known in Denmark as Ubådssagen.
Eva Marie Madsen née Braae (1884–1972) was a Danish municipal politician. She became Denmark's first female mayor in January 1950 when she was elected Mayor of Stege on the island of Møn.
