Dark Kingdom (DK) was a stable that appeared in All Japan Pro Wrestling and led by Kenso.
On November 18, 2013, Go Shiozaki announced forming a new group in Xceed with Kenso being the first member to the group. On November 21 at the first show of the 2013 Oudou Renaissance tour, Kenso teamed with Shiozaki in a losing effort against D-Lo Brown and Bambi Killer after Kenso betrayed Shiozaki and refused to tag in. [1] Afterwards, Kenso announced he'd been with Brown and Bambi all along with the three eventually being chased out of the ring by new Xceed members Kotaro Suzuki, Kento Miyahara, and Atsushi Aoki. In a press conference, Kenso claimed that Brown and Bambi Killer were his family, they were going for the belts, and he was targeting the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship for himself. [1] For the remainder of the November tour, Kenso and his group would feud with Xceed with both groups trading wins. [2] On November 24, Masahiro Chono joined the group for one match to defeat Shiozaki, Miyahara, and Aoki. [2] On November 27, the group hit a setback when Bambi Killer suffered a neck injury during his match with Joe Doering which forced him out for several months. [3] The following day, Kenso officially announced his stable to be "Dark Kingdom". [4] It was also announced that Kenso would replace Bambi Killer and team with Brown in the World's Strongest Tag Determination League. At the 2013 World Strongest Tag League, Kenso and Brown teamed up to represent Dark Kingdom where they finished 7th place with 2 points. They're only win was against All Asia Tag Team Champions Kotaro Suzuki and Atsushi Aoki. Aside from that, the team had a chaotic run losing a few of their tournament matches by disqualification and went a double countout with Takao Omori and Jun Akiyama. [5] Following this tour, Brown was no longer booked by All Japan which left Kenso as the only member left in Dark Kingdom.
Kenso began 2014 on a bad note as he lost to Go Shiozaki on January 2. [6] The following day, Kenso teamed with the returning Mitsuya Nagai and rebounded with a win over Osamu Nishimura and Ryuji Hijikata. [7] Dark Kingdom began to rebuild with this match as Kenso formed an alliance with Nagai, who began appearing regularly in All Japan. During the 2014 Excite Series, the stable began expanding again with Kenso announcing Nagai as an official member on February 13. [8] At the same time, Kenso began courting Atsushi Aoki after Aoki left Xceed but was not successful. In March, Dark Kingdom formed new alliances with Takeshi Minamino and Kengo Mashimo. On March 16, Kenso and Mashimo defeated Suwama and Hikaru Sato, [9] while Minamino came in on March 18 when he teamed with Nagai in a winning effort over Yutaka Yoshie and Shigehiro Irie. [10] On March 29, Nagai and Minamino challenged Jun Akiyama and Yoshinobu Kanemaru for the All Asia Tag Team Championship but lost. Despite the loss, Kenso offered Minamino an invitation to Dark Kingdom after the match. [11] April would be a huge month for the group. Kenso would enter the 2014 Champion Carnival where he placed 5th place in Block B with 2 points with his only won coming from Yutaka Yoshie. On April 23, the group would expand greatly when after the win over Yoshie, Kenso announced Nagai, Minamino, Mashimo, Bear Fukuda, and Kenichiro Arai as new members with Kenso announcing that this is the "true beginning" of DK. [12] Dark Kingdom wrestled throughout the Super Power Series tour of May. On May 29, Kenso and Mashimo challenged Suwama and Joe Doering for the World Tag Team Championship but came up short. [13] On the June Dynamite tour, Bambi Killer made his return to All Japan and rejoined DK while Nagai and Minamino began campaigning for an All Asia Tag Team Title shot while Kenso and Nagai campaigned for a World Tag Team Title shot. On August 30, Kengo Mashimo turned on Kenso, costing DK their match for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship. On December 14, Kenso brought Dark Kingdom its first title, when he defeated Kotaro Suzuki for the Gaora TV Championship. [14]
Dark Kingdom added another title on January 3, 2015, when Nagai and Minamino defeated Kento Miyahara and Kotaro Suzuki to win the All Asia Tag Team Championship. They lost the title to Último Dragón and Yoshinobu Kanemaru on March 22. [15] On June 4, Kenso lost the Gaora TV Championship to Sushi. On July 31, it was announced that KENSO would begin freelancing following the expiration of his AJPW contract and he left Dark Kingdom with Nagai and Minamino remaining the only members of the stable due to Fukuda and Arai leaving DK to continue their careers outside of AJPW.
In 2016 Minamino participated in the Jr. Battle of Glory but he finished his block with all of his matches going to double count outs and he failed to reach the finals. [16] On July 14, he defeated Yohei Nakajima for the Gaora TV Championship but he lost back to Nakajima on August 11. On September 25, 2016, Nagai and Minamino decided to disband Dark Kingdom in order to found their own stable named Dark Nightmare with Tatsuhito Takaiwa, Black Tiger V and Black Tiger VII.
Kenzo Suzuki is a Japanese professional wrestler. He is perhaps best known for his appearances with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and in the United States with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he was a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion in the latter company. He currently performs for All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) under the ring name Kenso, where he is a one-time World Tag Team Champion and a one-time Gaora TV Champion.
Jun Akiyama is a Japanese professional wrestler signed to DDT Pro-Wrestling, where he is a former KO-D Openweight Champion. He is best known for his time working for All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), where he was the president, representative director, co-head booker, and an in-ring performer. In AJPW, he is a former two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, while also being a six-time overall professional wrestling world champion.
Yasuhiro Suzuki, better known by the ring name Kotaro Suzuki, is a Japanese professional wrestler currently signed to Gleat. He is best known for working for the Pro Wrestling Noah and All Japan Pro Wrestling promotions, where he was a four-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion for Noah and a one-time World Junior Heavyweight Champion for AJPW.
Yoshinobu Kanemaru is a Japanese professional wrestler, currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he is a member of Bullet Club, and its sub-group House of Torture. He also works as a backstage producer. Kanemaru was a member of the Suzuki-gun stable from 2016 till the stable disbanded in 2022. Kanemaru joined the Just 5 Guys stable with former Suzuki-gun members before defecting to join House of Torture. Kanemaru is best known for his work in Pro Wrestling Noah, where he holds the record for the most reigns with the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Voodoo Murders were a professional wrestling stable who were best known as the main heel group in All Japan Pro Wrestling between 2005 and 2011, and 2022 to 2023. In 2013, the group was reformed in Diamond Ring and later performed primarily for Pro Wrestling ZERO1 in the stable's final years. The group, famously led by former Toryumon wrestler Taru, performed violent actions in their matches and displayed a lack of respect for their opponents.
Go Shiozaki is a Japanese professional wrestler currently signed to Pro Wrestling Noah. He is a record-holding five time former GHC Heavyweight Champion. He made his debut for the Pro Wrestling Noah in July 2004 and initially remained with Pro Wrestling Noah until the end of 2012 when he jumped to All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW). In AJPW, he became a one-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion and a two-time World Tag Team Champion, before resigning from the promotion in September 2015. Afterwards, he returned to Noah, where, in May 2016, he won the GHC Heavyweight Championship for the third time. He has also worked for American promotions Ring of Honor (ROH) and Full Impact Pro (FIP), winning the latter's World Heavyweight Championship. In August 2016, Shiozaki was appointed the chairman of Noah's wrestlers' association.
Atsushi Aoki was a Japanese professional wrestler who worked for All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) as a wrestler, president of talent relations and head trainer at their dojo.
Yohei Nakajima, is a Japanese professional wrestler, currently working under the name Black Menso-re for All Japan Pro Wrestling where he is a former four-time Gaora TV Champion. He was previously known as the similar masked character Menso～re Oyaji, under which he performed for several independent promotions, most notably Okinawa Pro Wrestling.
Takayasu Fukuda is a Japanese professional wrestler. He currently wrestles as a freelancer in the Japanese independent circuit and as a regular in Secret Base.
Burning is a professional wrestling stable originally formed in All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) in August 1998 by Jun Akiyama, Kenta Kobashi, Kentaro Shiga and Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Akiyama and Kobashi dominated AJPW's tag team ranks for the next two years, winning the World Tag Team Championship twice and the World's Strongest Tag Determination League also twice.
Xceed was a professional wrestling stable in All Japan Pro Wrestling and led by Go Shiozaki. The name "Xceed" means "surpass", "transcend", as well as a play on the original word "Exceed".
Evolution is a professional wrestling stable in the All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) promotion. Originally started as a tag team named Last Revolution by Joe Doering and Suwama in October 2012, it was later turned into a stable when Kaz Hayashi, Shuji Kondo and Yasufumi Nakanoue joined the two. The stable was disbanded in June 2013, when Hayashi, Kondo and Nakanoue left AJPW, but Doering and Suwama came back together under the new name Evolution the following September and recruited Hikaru Sato as the stable's third member in February 2014. Suwama has held the Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion twice and Doering once as representatives of the stable. The two are also former one-time World Tag Team Champions and won the 2013 World's Strongest Tag Determination League. In July 2014, Atsushi Aoki joined Evolution, bringing the World Junior Heavyweight Championship to the stable with him. As part of Evolution, Aoki and Sato formed a tag team named Hentai Jieitai, becoming two-time All Asia Tag Team Champions and three-time winners of the Jr. Tag Battle of Glory tournament.
Ōdō Tournament is a professional wrestling tournament held annually by All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) since 2013. The single-elimination tournament is a spiritual successor to the Open Championship tournament, which was held in 1975. Typically, the winner of the tournament earns a future match for the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship.
Kento Miyahara is a Japanese professional wrestler, currently signed to All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), where he is a six time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion. He was trained by Kensuke Sasaki and started his career in his Kensuke Office promotion in February 2008, before joining AJPW in January 2014. He won his first title, the All Asia Tag Team Championship, in August 2014. He has also held AJPW's World Tag Team Championship. In February 2016, Miyahara won AJPW's top title, the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, becoming the youngest winner of the title in the process until March 20, 2024, when Yuma Anzai break his record at 24 years. He has since won the title five more times and is tied with Toshiaki Kawada for the most title defenses with ten. He is known for his charismatic and energetic demeanor in his matches and segments, with him adding brash and anti-authority rhetoric within his later years as the "Best of the Best".
Kensho Obayashi is a Japanese bodybuilder and professional wrestler better known by his ring name Zeus. He is currently signed to All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he is a former AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion and a former four-time World Tag Team Champion with Bodyguard.
The Big Guns is a professional wrestling tag team currently working for All Japan Pro Wrestling, where they are former three-time World Tag Team Champions. They have also worked for Osaka Pro Wrestling, Smash, DDT, Wrestling New Classic, and Pro Wrestling Zero1.
Yuma Aoyagi is a Japanese professional wrestler currently working for All Japan Pro Wrestling. A member of the Zennichi Shin Jidai stable, he is a former Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, a two-time All Asia Tag Team Champion, and a three-time AJPW World Tag Team Champion. He is also the older brother of professional wrestler and fellow AJPW signee Atsuki Aoyagi.
