David S. Smart was a Scottish international lawn bowler who competed at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games (now Commonwealth Games).

Biography

Smart was a member of the Merchiston Edinburgh Bowling Club [1] and was part of the Merchiston Edinburgh pair [2] with Jim Kerr, that won the District finals [3] to qualify for the 1956 Scottish National Bowls Championships, where they then won the national pairs title. [4] [5] [6]

He represented the 1958 Scottish team [7] [8] at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff, Wales, [9] where he participated in the pairs event, [10] again with Jim Kerr. [11]

In 1961, Smart was still actively playing bowls and reached the District finals. [12]
