Dawson's Book Shop was a bookstore and small press that operated in Los Angeles beginning in 1905. Founded by Ernest Dawson (d. 1947), it was started as a new bookstore, but Dawson soon shifted his attention to rare books, and was known from that time on as a rare book dealer. [1] The business was taken over after his death by his sons Glen Dawson and Muir Dawson. [2] Dawson's specialized in rare books related to California and the West. Today, the shop operates online under the ownership of Michael Dawson.
Starting in 1949, the shop began publishing books, and issued 370 volumes, [3] including a significant number of miniature books on a wide variety of topics. [1] The books often involved the work of printers Karen Dawson, Muir Dawson, and William Cheney; illustrator Tom Neal; and bookbinder Bela Blau. [1] Books produced at the press were sometimes published under different imprints, including Seahorse Press and Dawson Books. [1] Individual volumes were at times printed abroad by presses in Budapest, Hungary; Mexico; and China. [1]

Waldenbooks, operated by the Walden Book Company, Inc., was an American shopping mall-based bookstore chain, from 1995 as a subsidiary of Borders Group. The chain also ran a video game and software chain under the name Waldensoftware, as well as a children's educational toy chain under Walden Kids. In 2011, the chain was liquidated in bankruptcy.

Rodolfo "Rudy" Francisco Acuña is an American historian, professor emeritus at California State University, Northridge, and a scholar of Chicano studies. He authored the 1972 book Occupied America: A History of Chicanos, approaching history of the Southwestern United States with a heavy emphasis on Mexican Americans. An eighth edition was published in 2014. Acuña has also written for the Los Angeles Times,The Los Angeles Herald-Express, La Opinión, and numerous other newspapers. His work emphasizes the struggles of Mexican American people. Acuña is an activist and he has supported numerous causes of the Chicano Movement. He currently teaches an on-line history course at California State University, Northridge.
Northridge Fashion Center is a large shopping mall located in Northridge, Los Angeles, California. It opened in 1971. It was severely damaged during the Northridge earthquake in 1994, but renovated extensively in 1995, 1998, and 2003. The mall's anchor stores are J. C. Penney, two Macy's locations, Dave and Buster’s, and an AMC Theatres formerly owned by Pacific Theatres.
Founded in 1915, the Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) (#033) served most of the City of Los Angeles as well as several other cities in the greater Los Angeles area. It was one of five Boy Scouts of America councils in Los Angeles County, California. Since its founding in 1915, the Los Angeles Area Council has brought its purpose and values to millions of youth. The Council served 54,567 youth in the Greater Los Angeles Area in 2008 alone.
Bookpeople was an employee-owned and operated book wholesaler and distributor based in the San Francisco Bay Area. It operated from 1969-2003. Bookpeople was one of the major forces behind the renaissance of independent publishing that occurred during this period. The business provided a wide range of hard-to-find titles to bookstores throughout the U.S. and the world. It also played a major role in the development of New Age and radical political publishing and bookselling. It was not related to The Book People, a U.K. publishing concern, or BookPeople, an Austin, Texas bookstore.

David E. Ryu is an American politician, who served as the Los Angeles City Councilman for District 4 from 2015 to 2020. He is the first Korean-American to hold a council seat in Los Angeles, California, and the first Asian-American to serve on Los Angeles City Council Leadership. Ryu was defeated by Nithya Raman in the November 3rd, 2020 general election.

Robert K. Brinton was a pioneer American rock climber and ski mountaineer. Along with his frequent climbing partner, Glen Dawson, he made numerous first ascents in California, British Columbia, and Utah in the 1930s and named a number of well-known routes.
