"Mr.Deepak Gupta" (born 21 September 1951, Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh) is a former chairman of the Union Public Service Commission. [1]

He is an IAS officer of 1974 batch and an alumnus of the St. Stephens College.

Deepak Gupta is currently the Honorary Director General of National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI). [2] [3] Deepak Gupta, former MNRE Secretary Govt. of India and UPSC Chairman has been a source of Inspiration to NSEFI. He presided over the conceptualization and implementation of India's National Solar Mission which is the basis for the latest ambitious target of 100,000 MW Solar capacity with 40,000 MW Solar Rooftop. He has rendered distinguished services to the country in his long administrative career and held many senior key positions in the Government of India.

Deepak Gupta, Former MNRE Secretary Govt. of India and UPSC Chairman is the Hon. Director General of NSEFI. [4] He retired in 2011 as Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable energy where he presided over the conceptualization and implementation of India’s National Solar Mission. After retirement he consulted with the world bank and UNIDO and writes on issues of energy and sustainable development. He was Chairman of UPSC from November 2014 to September 2016. [5]

India has committed for a goal of 450 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The National Solar Mission is an initiative of the Government of India and State Governments to promote solar power. The mission is one of the several policies of the National Action Plan on Climate Change. The program was inaugurated as the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 11 January 2010 with a target of 20 GW by 2022. This was later increased to 100 GW by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2015 Union budget of India. India increased its utility solar power generation capacity by nearly 5 times from 2,650 MW on 26 May 2014 to 12,288.83 MW on 31 March 2017. The country added 9,362.65 MW in 2017–18, the highest of any year. The original target of 20 GW was surpassed in 2018, four years ahead of the 2022 deadline.

Pradeep Kumar (civil servant)

Pradeep Kumar is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, 1972 batch, of the Haryana cadre, who served as Defense Secretary, in the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for a term of two years, from August 2009 to July 2011. He succeeded Vijay Singh, IAS, 1970 batch, who, on superannuation, was appointed as member of the UPSC. In July 2011, on superannuation, he was appointed as chief vigilance commissioner of India.

Vijay Singh (civil servant) Indian civil servant

Vijay Singh is a former officer from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 1970 batch, Madhya Pradesh Cadre. He was appointed Defence Secretary, in the Ministry of Defence, in August 2007. He succeeded Shekhar Dutt, IAS, of 1969 batch, who, on superannuation, was appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic and Defence related subjects in the National Security Council Secretariat, with rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, for a term of 2 years. In 2018, he was made chairman of Tata Advanced Systems and vice-chairman Tata Trusts.

Rajni Razdan was an Indian Administrative Service Officer of 1973 batch of Haryana cadre. She assumed the post of Chairman of Union Public Service Commission of India. Ms. Razdan has been a UPSC member since 19 April 2010. Deepak Gupta was chosen as the new UPSC chairman in Nov. 2014 after the completion of tenure of Rajni Razdan.

I. V. Subba Rao (civil servant) Indian civil servant born in 1955

Ilapavuluri Venkata Subba Rao or Dr. I. V. Subba Rao is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre and 1979 batch who has served at various positions in the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He worked as the Secretary to the Vice-President of India from August 2017 to August 2022.
