The first recognised UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships took place in Paris (France) in 1950 and was won by Jean Robic, of France. Between 1950 and 1966 the championship was open to both amateurs and professionals. From 1967 to 1993 two separate championships were organised – one for amateurs and one for professionals. From 1994 the championship became a single event again open to all elite riders. A junior world championship was introduced in 1976. All are organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), and the winner has the right to wear the rainbow jersey for a full year, like the winners of the world championships in other cycling disciplines.
Hanka Kupfernagel is a German professional cycle racer. Currently her primary focus is cyclocross racing, however, she has won major road, track and mountain bike races. She has won seven consecutive medals at the UCI Women's Cyclo-cross World Championships, including three gold medals for 2000, 2001 and 2005; the silver medal in 2002 and 2003; and the bronze medal in 2004.
John Gadret is a French former professional racing cyclist in cyclo-cross and road racing, currently racing for the USO Bruay-la-Buissière amateur team. He became a stagiaire for Cofidis in 2003 before turning professional with the Vlaanderen–T Interim team in 2004.

The UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships are the world championships for cyclo-cross organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Since 2016, five events are organized each year – men's elite, women's elite, men's under 23, women's under 23 and men's under 18 (Juniors). Traditionally, the elite events are held on a Sunday with the other events held on the Saturday the day before.

She participates in both road cycling and cyclo-cross and since she began competing at the age of 14, Wyman has represented her country at many international events including World Cups and World Championships. Except for 2013, she was the British national champion in cyclo-cross from 2006-2015.
The Cyclo-cross Kalmthout is a cyclo-cross race held in Kalmthout, Belgium. First held in 1991 under the name "Grote prijs industrie Bosduin", this race was a part of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in 1999, 2002 and 2005 till 2010. In the 2011-2012 season, it was replaced by Namen.

The Vlaamse Druivenveldrit is a cyclo-cross race held in Overijse, Belgium. The race is organised by the VZW Sportvrienden Overijse and was first held in 1960. The race is regarded as a Cyclo-cross classic and has a difficult and dangerous parcours that often results in crashes.
The British National Cyclo-cross Championships are held annually. The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic white cycling jersey featuring blue and red stripes, which can be worn by the rider at other cyclo-cross events in the country to show their status as national champion. The champion's stripes can be combined into a sponsored rider's team kit design for this purpose.

Paul Wright is an English professional racing cyclist, specialising in cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing. He was a member of the Ace Racing Team for cyclo-cross, nationally and internationally from 1995 until 2002. He also raced to Pro-Elite level in mountain bike racing winning numerous titles in cross-country events. He currently races on the road events nationally and internationally to UCI 2.2 level.

The 2006 World University Cycling Championship is the 4th Word University Cycling Championship sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Cycling made his comeback after a 16-year absence as a university sport. The championship took place in Antwerp and Herentals, Belgium from March 22 to March 26, 2006. The city of Herentals is located in the geographic region of Campine, which is well known for cyclo-cross. The championship included 119 athletes and 54 officials from 17 countries. Athletes contested in a cyclo-cross race for men and four road cycling disciplines: a road race and an individual time trial for both men and women.
The Grand Prix Eric De Vlaeminck is a cyclo-cross race on and around the circuit Terlaemen in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. The race is named after seven times world champion cyclo-cross Eric De Vlaeminck. It is a part of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup and is traditionally held on 26 December. In 2003 and 2004, it was a summercross.
Matrix Fitness is a British professional cycling team, which competes in road bicycle racing and track cycling events. For the 2015 season the team registered as a UCI Women's Team, the top level of professional women's cycling, so can compete in elite international events including the UCI Women's Road World Cup. Thomas "Tom" Pidcock is a British cyclist who currently competes in the cyclo-cross, road bicycle racing and track cycling disciplines of the sport. He is best known for winning the junior titles in the UEC European Cyclo-cross Championships at Pontchâteau, France in 2016, the UCI World Cyclo-cross Championships, at Bieles, Luxembourg in 2017 and the UCI World Time Trial Championships at Bergen, Norway in 2017.
