The football rivalry between Académico 83 and Académica da Calheta do Maio is one of the two rivalries in the island of Maio, Cape Verde, the other is the Clássico de Porto Inglês which features Académico 83 and Onze Unidos. [1]

Associação Académica da Calheta do Maio is a football (soccer) club that plays in the Maio Island League in Cape Verde. They have a football (soccer) field in Calheta, their matches are played at Estádio 20 de Janeiro in the island capital Cidade do Maio. Since the implementation of the Second Division in 2015, Académica Calheta are now the five unrelegated clubs of the island.
Maio is the easternmost of the Sotavento islands of Cape Verde. Maio is located south of the island of Boa Vista and east of Santiago. Administratively, the island forms one concelho (municipality): Maio.
The rivalry began around in the 1990s when the regional championships started. There have been around 50 meetings between the clubs.
The two major communities of Cidade do Maio (then Vila, colloquially known as Porto Inglěs) and Calheta in the north. Both of the clubs are an affiliate of Académica de Coimbra. It is a rivalry between the Académica clubs, the other in Cape Verde is on the island of Sal known as Clássico da Ilha do Aeroporto.
Calheta is a town in the western part of the island of Maio. It is situated on the Atlantic coast, around 11 km north of the island capital Porto Inglês and 6 km north of Morro. Its population at the 2010 census was 1,156, making it the island's second most populous settlement. The settlement was mentioned as "Kalyete" in the 1747 map by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin.

Académica Sal's last win was on February 22, 2013. Académico do Aeroporto's last win was on March 13, 2016. The upcoming match will be on February 19, 2017.
Académico do Aeroporto is the most successful football (soccer) club on the island, having won about 16 official regional titles, compared to Acadèmica da Calheta's three official regional titles.

Académico do Aeroporto is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Sal Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Espargos in the island of Sal. The team was is named after its nearby airport. Its current director is Ivan Lopes since mid-February 2017, its chairman is Carlos Moniz who returned for the second time and its manager was Lúcio Antunes since 2015. Now that Verdun Pedra de Lume was relegated, the club became the island's five unrelegated original clubs.
