The Victoria Cougars were a major league professional ice hockey team that played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) from 1911 to 1924 under various names, and in the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 1924 to 1926. The team was based in Victoria, British Columbia and won the Stanley Cup in 1925.

University of Detroit Stadium, also known as U of D Stadium, Titan Stadium, or Dinan Field, was a stadium in Detroit, Michigan on the campus of the University of Detroit. The stadium opened in 1922, on land that had been acquired for the university's proposed new McNichols campus. The stadium's main tenant was the University of Detroit Titans football team, who played their home games there from the time it opened until the university dropped its football program following the 1964 season.

The team was based in Lynn, Massachusetts and played their home games at the Manning Bowl. The USA league was made up of rosters from club teams from Europe and South America. The Boston Rovers were made up of the roster from League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers, plus some guests. Together with Cleveland Stokers, Detroit Cougars, New York Skyliners, Toronto City and Washington Whips, Rovers competed in the Eastern Division. These teams were Stoke City, Glentoran, C.A. Cerro, Hibernian and Aberdeen respectively.

The SIUE mascot is Eddie the Cougar #57, and the school colors are red and white. Cougar teams have won seventeen NCAA national championships in five sports.
Claude Barthélemy was a Haitian footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a striker. He played for AS Capoise between 1961 and 1964, then joined Racing Club Haitien until 1967, and played one season for the Detroit Cougars in 1968. He played for the national team between 1965 and 1977, including two games at the 1974 FIFA World Cup.

Prior to joining the NISA in 2019, the club played in the Midwest Region of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national amateur league in the unofficial fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The club played its home matches at Cass Technical High School in downtown Detroit until 2015, before moving to Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, an enclave of Detroit. The club is managed by Trevor James, a former Ipswich Town F.C. player who later was an assistant coach and scout under Bobby Robson.

Born in Accra, Ghana and baptized as a Mormon, he moved to the United States to attend Brigham Young University, where he played college football for the Brigham Young Cougars. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions fifth overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.
