Devdas is a Bengali-language film based on the Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel Devdas . It is the first Bangladeshi version of the story and the first colour film version in Bangladesh. It was the first of two versions directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam.
The music was composed by Khondokar Nurul Alam, penned by Md. Rafikujjaman and sung by Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin and Subir Nandi.

Bimal Roy was an Indian film director. Chashi Nazrul Islam was a Bangladeshi film director and producer. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice for the films Shuvoda in 1986 and Hangor Nodi Grenade in 1997. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh.
Chandramukhi is one of the pivotal characters in the 1917 Bengali novel Devdas by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Her character was inspired by the Hindu mystical singer Meera, who devoted her life to Lord Krishna; similarly Chandramukhi devoted her life to Devdas. Chandramukhi is portrayed as a tawaif in the novel and its film adaptations. Chandramukhi means "moon faced" or "as beautiful as the moon" in Sanskrit.
