Dikkie Dik is a Dutch series of children's picture books, starring the eponymous orange tomcat Dikkie Dik. The books are drawn by author Jet Boeke, and feature short, concise texts by Arthur van Norden. The series started in 1978 as part of the Dutch version of the children's TV show Sesame Street, but soon the stories appeared in bookstores.
On Sesame Street the stories were read aloud by Piet Hendriks, with recurring characters like Tommie, Pino or Troel listening. In the early 1980s the stories in Sesame Street were told by Rudy Kuhn, with some children as an audience, and in 1985 Frank Groothof took over.
In 2000 Boeke received the Kiekeboekprijs for her book Waar is Dikkie Dik?, as the best book for toddlers of the year.

The theatershow Sex of the Dutch theater group De Vliegende Panters contains a persiflage on Dikkie Dik (in fact it's a parody of the narrator of Surinamese origin Rudy Kuhn, who read in the program Sesame Street from Dikkie Dik in the eighties), in which he stole a car radio and put a shot. The theatershow Sex was performed in 1996. At that time Rudy Kuhn hadn't been on Sesame Street for 10 years.
Sesamstraat is a Dutch television series in the Netherlands, and a localized version of the U.S. children's program Sesame Street. In its early days, the show was broadcast in Flanders (Belgium) as well. It is the second longest-running foreign adaptation of Sesame Street without interruptions, behind only Sesamstraße. It targets children between 3–7 years old.
Willem Theodoor "Wim T." Schippers is a Dutch artist, comedian, television director, and voice actor. During the 1960s, he worked mostly as a visual artist, associated with the international Fluxus-movement. As a television writer, director, and actor he is responsible for some of the most notable and controversial shows on Dutch televisions from the 1960s to the 1990s, creating a number of lasting characters and enriching the language with terms and expressions first coined in his shows. In addition, he voiced the characters of Ernie and Kermit the Frog on Sesamstraat, the Dutch version of Sesame Street. For his shows, he has written over three hundred songs, and his reputation has changed from being Dutch television's "enfant terrible" to an acknowledged master in a variety of genres.

Guus Kuijer is a Dutch author. He wrote books for children and adults, and is best known for the Madelief series of children's books. For his career contribution to "children's and young adult literature in the broadest sense" he won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award from the Swedish Arts Council in 2012, the biggest prize in children's literature. As a children's writer he was one of five finalists for the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2008.
The Bookspot Literatuurprijs is a prize for literature in the Netherlands and Belgium. It is awarded to authors writing in Dutch and amounts to €50,000. The ceremony is televised live each year. The prize was conceived in 1986 and inaugurated the following year with the aim to promote literature and increase the public's interest in books.

Noortje is a Dutch gag-a-day humor comic strip created in 1975 for the Dutch girls' magazine Tina. The script is by Patty Klein and the drawings are by Jan Steeman. It is currently one of the longest-running Dutch comics series and with 41 years the longest-running Dutch comics series made by the same writer/artist team. In 2016 Steeman resigned and was succeeded by his son Lucas Steeman; he died on January 24, 2018, of kidney-failure. Patty Klein died on 15 March 2019.
