Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognized sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime.
The diving competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima will take place from August 1st to 5th, 2019 at the Aquatics Centre. It will be one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with swimming, water polo, and artistic swimming.
The 2019 Pan American Games, officially the XVIII Pan American Games and commonly known as the Lima 2019 Pan-Am Games or Lima 2019, were a multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, was held in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019, with preliminary rounds in certain events having begun on July 24, 2019.

Wu Minxia is a Chinese diver, specializing in the 1 metre and 3 metre springboard, and synchronized 3 metre springboard events. Entering her first major championship in 2001, Wu has represented China at every Asian Games, Olympic Games and FINA World Aquatics Championships up until 2016. She is an eight-time world champion, and a five-time Olympic and Asian champion, which makes her one of the most decorated divers in history.
The FINA World Championships or World Aquatics Championships are the World Championships for aquatics sports: swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, synchronized swimming, and water polo. They are run by FINA, and all swimming events are contested in a long course (50-metre) pool.
