The Doctor of Physiotherapy is an extended master's degree under the Australian Qualifications Framework Level 9 classification. The Doctor of Physiotherapy program at this time is only offered in Australia. The degree should not be confused with the American Doctor of Physical therapy, which is a post baccalaureate degree.

Physical therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is one of the allied health professions. It is provided by physical therapists who promote, maintain, or restore health through physical examination, diagnosis, prognosis, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, disease prevention, and health promotion. Physical therapists are known as physiotherapists in many countries.
A bachelor's degree or baccalaureate is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study lasting three to six years. The two most common bachelor's degrees are the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Science.
