Naryn is the regional administrative center of Naryn Region in central Kyrgyzstan. Its area is 84 square kilometres (32 sq mi), and its estimated population was 41,178 as of January 2021. The town was established as a fortress on the caravan route in 1868. It is situated on both banks of the river Naryn, which cuts a picturesque gorge through the town. The city has two regional museums and some hotels, but is otherwise residential.

Naryn Region is the largest region (oblus) of Kyrgyzstan. The Naryn rises in the Tian Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, flowing west through the Fergana Valley into Uzbekistan. Here it merges with the Kara Darya to form the Syr Darya. It is 807 kilometres (501 mi) long and its basin area is 59,100 square kilometres (22,800 sq mi). It has an annual flow of 13.7 cubic kilometres (11,100,000 acre⋅ft).

Tash-Kömür is one of the five largest towns of Jalal-Abad Region in Southern Kyrgyzstan. It is a city of regional significance, not part of a district. Its area is 47 square kilometres (18 sq mi), and its resident population was 44,065 in 2021. It is located along the West bank of the river Naryn, opposite the main Osh - Bishkek road. Located at the edge of the Tien Shan Mountains, when heading South from Bishkek, Tash-Kömür is the gateway to the Fergana valley.

At-Bashy is a village in the Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan, about 35km southwest of Naryn on the main highway to the Torugart Pass. It is the seat of At-Bashy District. The At-Bashy Range to the south extends to Lake Chatyr-Kul. The river At-Bashy comes in from the east and then runs northwest through a gorge in the Baybiche-Too range to join the Naryn near Dostuk. It is the last considerable settlement before the Chinese border. The highway, built in 1906, runs southwest between the Baybiche-Too and At-Bashy ranges before turning south and then east to reach the pass. Its population was 14,655 in 2021.

Dostuk is a village in Naryn District of Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan on the river Naryn and highway A361 about 35 km west of Naryn. Its population was 750 in 2021. Until 2012 it was an urban-type settlement.

Kazarman is the village and capital of Toguz-Toro District, Jalal-Abad Region, Kyrgyzstan on the river Naryn. Its population was 11,191 in 2021.

Naryn District is a district of Naryn Region in central-southern Kyrgyzstan. The administrative seat lies at the city Naryn, which is not part of the district. Naryn District was established in its borders in 1930. It borders with At-Bashy District to the south, Ak-Talaa District to the west, Kochkor District to the north, Tong District to the north-east, Jeti-Ögüz District to the east, and Lake Song Köl to the north-west. Its area is 10,502 km2 (4,055 sq mi), and its resident population was 49,955 in 2021.

The 1992 Kyrgyzstan League was the 1st season of Kyrgyzstan League, after independence from the Soviet Union, the Football Federation of Kyrgyz Republic's top division of association football. Alga Bishkek were the inaugural champions. Twelve teams participated in the inaugural season.

The At-Bashy is a left tributary of the Naryn in Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan. The river is formed at the north slope of Jangy-Jer Range by confluence of the rivers Ulan and Jangy-Jer. It flows into the Naryn near Dostuk. It is 180 kilometres (110 mi) long, and has a drainage basin of 5,540 square kilometres (2,140 sq mi). Average altitude - 3,060 m, annual average flow rate - 33.1 m³/s, and average specific discharge - 5.98 L/s•km2. Settlements located along the banks of the At-Bashy include: At-Bashy, Bash-Kayyngdy, Birinchi May and Taldy-Suu.
