Drake was awarded a forfeit victory over Valparaiso during the 1995–96 season due to Valparaiso's use of an ineligible player. Drake originally lost that game 79–80.^[8]

MVC All-Centennial team

In 2006–07, the Missouri Valley Conference celebrated its centennial as the nation's second-oldest NCAA Division I conference. As part of the celebration, The Valley named All-Centennial teams for each of the sponsored sports. Six of the 35 women's basketball players named were from Drake's program.^[9]

The Butler Bulldogs are the athletic teams that represent Butler University, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Bulldogs participate in 20 NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. After leaving the Horizon League following the 2011–12 season, nearly all teams competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Beacons play in the Athletics-Recreation Center, which has a nominal capacity of 5,432. The record capacity 5,444 was reached on March 23, 2016, in the NIT Quarterfinal. The team last played in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 2015.

The 2007–08 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University in the 2007–08 college basketball season. The team was led by first-year head coach Keno Davis. In 2006–07, the Bulldogs finished 17–15. Drake improved upon their first winning season since the 1986–1987 season, making their first NCAA tournament appearance since their run to the Elite Eight in 1971 and their first postseason appearance since their National Invitational tournament appearance in 1986.

The 2016–17 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by interim head coach Jeff Rutter. They played their home games at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa and were members of the Missouri Valley Conference.

The 2017–18 Drake Bulldogs women's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by sixth year head coach Jennie Baranczyk, played their home games at Knapp Center and are members of the Missouri Valley Conference. They finished the season 26–8, 18–0 in MVC play to win the MVC regular season championship. They defeated Valparaiso, Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa to become champions of the Missouri Valley women's tournament and earn an automatic trip to the NCAA women's tournament, where they lost to Texas A&M in the first round.

The 2017–18 Valparaiso Crusaders women's basketball team represented Valparaiso University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Crusaders, led by sixth-year head coach Tracey Dorow, played their home games at the Athletics–Recreation Center as first-year members of the Missouri Valley Conference. They finished the season 13–18, 5–13 in MVC play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley women's tournament, where they lost to Drake.

The Bulldogs, led by seventh-year head coach Jennie Baranczyk, played their home games at Knapp Center and were members of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).

The Northern Iowa–Drake rivalry is the American collegiate athletics rivalry between the Northern Iowa Panthers sports teams of the University of Northern Iowa and the Drake Bulldogs sports teams of Drake University.

The 2021–22 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by fourth-year head coach Darian DeVries. They played their home games at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa as members of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). They finished the regular season 22–9, 13–5 in MVC play to finish in a tie for second place. As the No. 3 seed in the MVC tournament, they defeated Southern Illinois in the quarterfinals and Missouri State in the semifinals before losing to Loyola in the championship.
