Dru Brown is an Australian filmmaker. He produced and directed The Suicide Theory (2014). [1] [2] [3]

Films

The Suicide Theory , in which he served as producer and director, won the Grand Jury Prize at the L.A film festival, Dances With Films in 2014. [4] Becoming the first international film to do so in the 17 year history of the festival. It also played opening night at the 2014 Austin Film Festival, winning the Dark Matters Audience Award. [5] It had a 10 city U.S theatrical release in 2015 and was named #5 in The Guardian's: 10 Best Aussie Films of 2015. [6] It also won 3 awards at the 2014 Melbourne Underground Film Festival (Including the Jury Prize).[ citation needed ]

Double or Nothing was announced in 2021 starring John Jarratt, Vince Colosimo, Robert Rabiah and Steve Mouzakis. [7] It is described as a throwback to 1990s films like Guy Ritchie's Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels with a 1970s crime film flavour. Brown serves as writer and director.

Rolf de Heer is a Dutch Australian film director. De Heer was born in Heemskerk in the Netherlands but migrated to Sydney when he was eight years old. He attended the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in Sydney. His company is called Vertigo Productions and is based in Adelaide. De Heer primarily makes alternative or arthouse films. According to the jacket notes of the videotape, de Heer holds the honor of co-producing and directing the only motion picture, Dingo, in which the jazz legend Miles Davis appears as an actor. Miles Davis collaborated with Michel Legrand on the score. He is the subject of the book Dutch Tilt, Aussie Auteur: The Films of Rolf de Heer by Dr D. Bruno Starrs. Summer of Soul is a 2021 American documentary film about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, directed by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson in his directorial debut. It had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2021, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award in the documentary categories, and received a limited theatrical release in the United States by Searchlight Pictures on June 25, 2021, before expanding and being released for streaming on Hulu the following weekend.

The 2022 Sundance Film Festival took place from January 20 to 30, 2022. Due to COVID-19 pandemic protocol it was going to be a hybrid festival, but on January 5, 2022 it was announced that the in-person components would be scrapped in favor of a virtual festival due to the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant. The first lineup of competition films was announced on December 9, 2021.
