Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques is a Jamaican dancehall musician. Paul's first album, Stage One, was released in 2000. He gained international fame with his second album, Dutty Rock, in 2002. Its single "Get Busy" topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, as did "Temperature", off his third album, The Trinity (2005).

Dutty Boukman was a leader of the Haitian Revolution. Born to a Muslim family in Senegambia, he was enslaved to Jamaica. He eventually ended up in Haiti, where he became a leader of the Maroons and a vodou houngan (priest).

The Dutty Wine is a Jamaican dance, typically performed by young women. The dance originated in Jamaica as with many other dances like "Log on" and "Screechie". There are several dancers in Jamaica who claim they were its creator, among them a dancehall queen named Mad Michelle who refers to a video recording from 2003. The Dutty Wine was popularized in 2006 via a #1 song of the same name by dancehall artist Tony Matterhorn recorded on the album Smash riddim. The name was created in Jamaica.

Dutty Rock is the second studio album by Jamaican dancehall singer Sean Paul. Released on 12 November 2002, it features four top 15 Billboard Hot 100 hits, "Gimme the Light", "Get Busy", "Like Glue" and "I'm Still in Love with You". It is also his first album to have a Parental Advisory sticker. The album debuted at number 26 on the US Billboard 200, selling 65,000 copies in its first week and went on to become an international phenomenon, eventually climbing the charts peaking at number 9 on the US Billboard 200, number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and topping the Canadian Albums Chart. The song "Top of the Game" was featured in NBA Live 2004.
