The Ecuador women's national basketball team is the official women's basketball team for Ecuador.

Women's basketball was developed in the late 1800s in tandem with its men's counterpart. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges. From 1895 until 1970, the term "women's basketball" was also used to refer to netball, which evolved in parallel with modern women's basketball. It is mostly popular in America.

The 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, the 18th edition of FIBA's premier international tournament for women's national basketball teams, was held in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain from 22 to 30 September 2018. This was the first edition to use the name of FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. After the last edition in 2014, FIBA changed the name of the competition from the FIBA World Championship for Women, in order to align its name with that of the corresponding men's competition.

2019 FIBA Under-16 Womens Americas Championship

The 2019 FIBA Under-16 Women's Americas Championship was an international basketball competition held in Puerto Aysén, Chile from 16–22 June 2019. It was the sixth edition of the FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship for Women, and the first to be hosted in Chile.
