Edward J. Akar (born in Rotifunk, Sierra Leone) was a Sierra Leonean lawyer and former Sierra Leone's deputy finance minister. Akar had served as the president of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank and chairman of the Sierra Leone national football team, known as the Leone Stars from 2000-2004. He is the younger brother (by eight years) of John Akar, who is one of Sierra Leone's most prominent people. He is of Sierra Leonean-Lebanese descent. John Akar wrote the music to Sierra Leone's National Anthem. Before his career as a lawyer, Edward Akar played football for Blackpool FC (before they changed their name to 'Mighty Blackpool'. He also played for the Sierra Leone national football team. His last match was around 1963, in a defeat to Guinea, in Conakry.

Mighty Blackpool is a Sierra Leonean football club based in the capital Freetown. They play in the Sierra Leone National Premier League, the top football league in the country. Blackpool represents the West End of Freetown and their home games are played at the National Stadium in Freetown.
The Sierra Leone national football team represents Sierra Leone in men's international association football and it is governed by the Sierra Leone Football Association. The team's nickname is Leone Stars. The team is affiliated to the West African Football Union. The team have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup; however, they have qualified for Africa Cup of Nations thrice. The team represents both FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Mohamed Kallon MOR is a Sierra Leonean international manager and former footballer who played as a striker. He is widely considered the most famous footballer from Sierra Leone. He last played for the Sierra Leone club Kallon F.C., as well as making 39 appearances for the Sierra Leone national football team during his career.

The Sherbro people are a native people of Sierra Leone, who speak the Sherbro language; they make up 1.9% of Sierra Leone's population or 134,606. The Sherbro are found primarily in their homeland in Bonthe District, where they make up 40% of the population, in coastal areas of Moyamba District, and in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, particularly in Freetown. During pre-colonial days, the Sherbro were one of the most dominant ethnic group in Sierra Leone, but in the early 21st century, the Sherbro comprise a small minority in the nation. The Sherbro speak their own language, called Sherbro language.
East End Lions is a Sierra Leonean professional football club based in the capital Freetown. They play in the Sierra Leone National Premier League, the top football league in Sierra Leone. East End Lions represents the East End of Freetown, and play their home games at the National Stadium. The head coach, appointed in 2018 is John Keister.
Michael Tommy is a Sierra Leonean international football goalkeeper. He played recently for Grecia in the Costa Rican Second Division. Tommy was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Leone Stars in recent games but he has since lost that position to Christian Caulker.

The league is sponsored by the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, one of the major Sierra Leonean banks. East End Lions and Mighty Blackpool are the two biggest and most successful clubs. The National Premier League is controlled by the Sierra Leone Football Association. The season runs from March to July.
John Keister is a former footballer and coach. Although born in England, he represented the Sierra Leone national team during his career and currently serves as its head coach.

He was a member of the Sierra Leone under-17 team that came in second place at the 2003 African Under-17 Championship held in Swaziland. He also a regular for Sierra Leone under-17 team during the 2003 Fifa under-17 World Cup in Finland.
