Eidsbugarden is a tourist center which lies at the western end of Lake Bygdin in the Jotunheimen mountain range on the outskirts of Jotunheim National Park in Innlandet, Norway. Eidsbugarden lies to the southeast in Jotunheim.
A memorial was raised in 1959 to the Norwegian poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje at Eidsbugarden where he had a private hut. Friends and followers commemorated his contribution to appreciation of Norwegian nature and strengthening of the Norwegian national identity.
Today Eidsbugarden is a rather large mountain tourist centre, with a hotel from 1909, restored in 2006, a Norwegian Mountain Touring Association (DNT) cabin and approximately 160 private huts (cabins).
Along the lake there are several tourist huts –on the west end lies Eidsbugarden, on the north side lies Torfinnsbu and on the east side lies Bygdin turisthytte. In the summer these huts are connected by boat and in winter by ski or snowmobile.
The first weekend in August every year, the Vinjerock festival is arranged at Eidsbugarden. Artists such as Dumdum Boys, Thomas Dybdahl and Ken Hensley have played at the festival.

Geilo is a centre in the municipality of Hol in Buskerud county, Norway. Geilo is primarily a ski resort town, with around 2,500 inhabitants. It is situated in the valley of Hallingdal, 250 km from Oslo and 260 km from Bergen. The Bergen Line facilitated Geilo's development as the first skiing resort in the country, and it is still one of the largest. It is also known for having some of the most luxurious and expensive holiday cabins in Norway. The center of the town lies at 800 meters above sea level, and its highest point is 1178 meters above sea level.
Jotunheimen National Park is a national park in Norway, recognized as one of the country's premier hiking and fishing regions. The national park covers 1,151 square kilometres (444 sq mi) and is part of the larger area Jotunheimen. More than 250 peaks rise above an elevation of 1,900 metres (6,200 ft), including Northern Europe's three highest peaks: Galdhøpiggen at 2,469 metres (8,100 ft), Glittertind at 2,452 metres (8,045 ft) and Store Skagastølstind at 2,405 metres (7,890 ft).
A mountain hut is a building located high in the mountains, generally accessible only by foot, intended to provide food and shelter to mountaineers, climbers and hikers. Mountain huts are usually operated by an Alpine Club or some organization dedicated to hiking or mountain recreation. They are known by many names, including alpine hut, mountain shelter, mountain refuge, mountain lodge, and mountain hostel. It may also be called a refuge hut, although these occur in lowland areas too.
Bitihorn is a mountain on the border of Vang Municipality and Øystre Slidre Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The 1,608-metre (5,276 ft) tall mountain is located in the Jotunheimen mountains about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) northwest of the village of Beitostølen. The mountain is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Rasletind and Raslet to the north, Gråhøi and Kvernhøi to the northeast, and Skaget to the east. It is situated on the west side of Norwegian County Road 51, and because of its location, it is a landmark for tourists following that popular driving route.
Bygdin is a lake in Vang Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The 40-square-kilometre (15 sq mi) is located in the southern part of the Jotunheimen mountain range. The 25-kilometre (16 mi) long, narrow mountain lake is located between the large lakes Tyin and Vinstre to the east.
Tyin is a lake in Vang Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The lake is located in the southwest part of the Jotunheimen mountain range. The lake lies in Vang Municipality in Innlandet county, but a small portion of the lake extends into Årdal Municipality in Vestland county. The western border mostly follows the border between Vang and Årdal, but there are some areas where the lake crosses over the boundary. The 33.2-square-kilometre (12.8 sq mi) lake serves as a reservoir for the Tyin Hydroelectric Power Station and the water level is regulated between 1,082.8 to 1,072.50 metres above sea level. The lake has a reservoir capacity of 0.313 cubic kilometres (254,000 acre⋅ft).
Gjende or Gjendin is a lake in Vågå Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the Jotunheimen mountain range and also inside Jotunheimen National Park. The proglacial lake shows typical characteristics of glacial formation, being long and narrow, with steep walls. The lake is 18 kilometres (11 mi) in length and only 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) in width at the broadest point. Gjende has a characteristic light-green color resulting from the large quantity of rock flour which is discharged into the Gjende by the Muru river. The river Sjoa provides the outlet from Gjende at Gjendesheim, and flows eastward into the Gudbrandsdalslågen river.
The Sjoa is a river in Innlandet county, Norway. The 98-kilometre (61 mi) long river runs through the municipalities of Vågå and Sel and it provides the outlet from lake Gjende at Gjendesheim in the Jotunheimen mountains of Norway's Jotunheim National Park. The river flows eastward through the Sjodalen valley and Heidal valley into the Gudbrandsdalslågen river at the village of Sjoa.
Vinjerock is a rock festival 1060 meters above sea level, at Eidsbugarden in the Jotunheimen area in southern Norway. Approximately 15 rock bands play at this festival on the first weekend in August each year.
The Abbot Pass hut was an alpine hut located at an altitude of 2,925 metres (9,596 ft) in Abbot Pass in the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. It was nestled between Mount Victoria and Mount Lefroy, straddling the Great Divide, which, in this region, defines the boundary between Banff National Park in Alberta and Yoho National Park in British Columbia. While close to the border, the hut lay entirely in Banff National Park, and was the second-highest permanently habitable structure in Canada. The hut was maintained by the Alpine Club of Canada.
Treungen or Tveitsund is the administrative centre of Nissedal Municipality in Telemark county in Norway. Treungen and Tveitsund were previously separate villages, but they have grown together and now form one large urban area. The 1.01-square-kilometre (250-acre) village has a population (2022) of 540 and a population density of 534 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,380/sq mi). The village is the sole population centre that has more than 200 residents in all of Nissedal municipality.
Sylan (Norwegian), Sylarna (Swedish), or Bealjehkh is a mountain range on the border between Norway and Sweden. The mountain range lies in Trøndelag and Jämtland counties.
Memurubu is a tourist hut in Norway, at the end or start of the famous Besseggen hiking trail. Memurubu is originally an old mountain pasture dating back to 1872, but has had tourists just as long. Cows are still grazing around the tourist hut, which lies at the mouth of the river Muru in the valley Memurudalen. After a fire destroyed the original lodge in 1998 it was rebuilt. The new facility has a few family rooms with shower and bathrooms, although most of the 150 bunks are in double or quadruple occupancy rooms.
Gjendebu is the oldest cabin of the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association (DNT). The cabin lies 995 metres above sea level, by the western end of the lake Gjende, central in Jotunheimen. It is accessible by hiking along marked trails, or by boat over Gjende from Gjendesheim. The cabin was built in 1871 and was at that time 45 m² and with 12 beds, today there are 119 beds.
Wasagaming is the main townsite in the popular tourist destination Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba, Canada. It is located at the south gate of Riding Mountain National Park along Highway 10. This townsite is 99 kilometres (62 mi) north of Brandon. It lies on the south shores of Clear Lake which is the largest lake in Riding Mountain National Park.
The Sognefjellsvegen or Sognefjellsveien is the highest mountain pass road in Northern Europe. Part of County Road 55, it is located in Innlandet and Vestland counties in Norway. It is a national tourist road and starts in the village of Lom in the municipality of Lom, it then travels over the Sognefjell mountain area, and it ends in the village of Gaupne in the municipality of Luster. The road was opened on 16 July 1938. The road passes through the Jotunheimen, Hurrungane, and Breheimen mountains. The highest point is Fantesteinen at 1,434 metres (4,705 ft). During the winters there is a lot of snow, and so the road is closed from November through May. The road passes between Jotunheimen National Park and Breheimen National Park.
Jotunheimvegen is a 45 kilometres (28 mi) long toll road through Jotunheimen in Innlandet county in Norway which is only open in the summer, from the end of June until it starts to snow, generally in October. It is a gravel road.
Valdresflye, also spelled Valdresflya and Valdresflyi, is a mountain plateau in the easternmost part of the Jotunheimen mountains in Norway. The plateau lies in Innlandet county, mostly in Øystre Slidre Municipality, but a small area extends into Vang Municipality as well. The Norwegian County Road 51 runs over the plateau, reaching 1,389 meters (4,557 ft) above mean sea level, but this road is only open in the summers.
Sinthan Top is a mountain pass, a popular tourist destination located in Kishtwar district and borders with South Kashmir's Breng Valley of Anantnag district in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Majority of the area lies on the Kishtwar side. The top acts as a sort of base camp to several alpine lakes in the region.
