El Nacional is a Dominican newspaper founded in 1966 by Dr. Rafael Molina Morillo, who was president/owner of Ahora! Publications. [2] The online version of the newspaper was founded on July 17, 1997. [3] [4]

As of 2012, the newspaper director is Radhamés Gómez Pepín. [5]

In February 2017, the newspaper received international attention when it mistakenly published an image of Alec Baldwin portraying Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, instead of the president himself. The paper quickly apologized. [6] [7]

Dr. Rafael Molina Morillo was a lawyer, journalist, diplomat, and newspaper editor from the Dominican Republic. He created Ahora! Publications which published El Nacional newspaper and Ahora! magazine. He also was editor of Listín Diario newspaper and El Dia, a free newspaper in the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo Norte is a municipality of the Santo Domingo Province in the Dominican Republic. There is one municipal district within the municipality: La Victoria.

Francisco Gregorio Billini Aristi was a Dominican writer, pedagogue, and politician. Supported by the former president Ulises Heureaux, he won the national elections in 1884, and served as the 23rd president of the Dominican Republic, from September 1, 1884 to May 16, 1885. He resigned in 1885 to avoid creating a civil war as he found opposition, as Gregorio Luperon believed he was Ulises Heureaux puppet and a way of the dictator to maintain political power while Heureaux opposed him when Billini's policies affected his power and interests in the country.

White Dominicans are Dominican people of predominant or full European descent. They are 17.8% of the Dominican Republic's population, according to a 2021 survey by the United Nations Population Fund. The majority of white Dominicans have ancestry from the first European settlers to arrive in Hispaniola in 1492 and are descendants of the Spanish and Portuguese who settled in the island during colonial times, as well as the French who settled in the 17th and 18th centuries.
