Emma's Diary is a British media company and parenting club that publishes pregnancy-related content through print and digital media. [1] [2] [3] The company is also known for distributing free resources for prenatal and postnatal care. [4]

History

Emma's Diary was founded by Nick Wells in 1991. [5] [6] The company went on to release a website [7] [8] and app [8] [9] to distribute its content digitally.

Emma's Diary publishes medical information, advice, and video content made for expecting parents. Emma's Diary's content is written according to NHS, NICE, and BFI guidelines. [10] [11]

The company also distributes free packs of baby care products at retailers such as Argos and Boots. [1] [4] [12] It also provides a pregnancy guide compiled by GPs and midwives, which is distributed to GPs and midwives across the UK. [10]

Mothercare bought Fleming Media out to become outright owner of Gurgle in September 2009. Since 2008 the site has been run by Pettrina Keogh, who joined the company from Telegraph Media Group. Nicolette Peel was a British midwife and an advocate for women and families with cancer in pregnancy and postpartum period. In 2007, Peel was first diagnosed with breast cancer. After treatment, she was eventually cancer-free. However, in 2012, Peel was diagnosed with cancer again, soon after the birth of one of her children. From this experience, she co-founded a charity called Mummy’s Star (2013) in memory of a friend, Mair Wallroth. It is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to women and their families diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months of giving birth.
