Enda O'Coineen (born 15 October 1955 in Galway), is an Irish businessman, sailor, navigator and skipper. [2] [3]
His great-grandfather participated in the Klondike Gold Rush before returning to Ireland as a publican. [4]
In 2013, he helped found the Atlantic Youth Trust, a young sailing charity in Ireland. [5] He is chair of the charity. [5]
In 2017, his net worth was reported as 49 million euros. [6] O'Coineen purchased the Business Post, a Sunday newspaper in Ireland in September 2018. [2] The purchase was managed through the ownership of his company, Kilcullen Kapital Partners. [2]
In 2019, he published a memoir entitled Close To The Edge. [4]
In 2020, it was reported that he owned 90% of Dun Aengus, an investment vehicle. [7]
O'Coineen is married to Nicola Mitchell, the chief executive of Life Scientific, an agrochemicals company. [8] In September 2022, it was announced that the couple had separated and he was suing his wife in the High Court of Ireland. [8]
In 1985, he attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean but capsized and was late rescued by a NATO warship. [1]
He acquired Mike Goling IMOCA 60 and renamed it "Kilcullen Voyager - Team Ireland". He was the first Irishman to enter the Vendee Globe when he participated in the 2016-2017 Vendée Globe he broke the mast near New Zealand and had to retire. [9]
In early 2018, Enda O'Coineen decided to finish the planned trip of the Vendée Globe on the Imoca "The Breath of the North for The Imagine Project" belonging to Thomas Ruyant. He finished this journey on 1 April 2018, arriving in Sables d'Olonne.

Armel Le Cléac’h is a French professional navigator and sea captain. He was the IMOCA world champion in 2008 and French champion in single-handed yacht race in 2003, he notably won the Solitaire du Figaro twice, the Transat AG2R in 2004 and 2010 and the Single-Handed Trans-Atlantic Race in 2016. He finished second in both the 2008–09 and 2012–13 editions of the Vendée Globe. In the Vendée Globe 2016–17, he finished first with a new record time of 74d 3h 35' 46". The 2020–2021 Vendée Globe was a non-stop round the world yacht race for IMOCA 60 class yachts crewed by only one person. It was the ninth edition of the race, which started and finished in Les Sables-d'Olonne, France. The race began on 8 November 2020, with the first finishers completing the course on 27 January 2021 with the 25th and final yacht to complete the race arrived on 5 March 2021.

Alan Roura is a Swiss professional sailor, born on 26 February 1993 in Onex (Switzerland). At the age of 23, in the 2016–2017 Vendée Globe, he is the youngest competitor in the history of the event, of which he finished 12th. In 2019, on La Fabrique, the second Imoca of the name, he set a solo crossing of the North Atlantic on a 60-foot monohull crossing in a record time of 7 days, 16 hours, 58 minutes and 25 seconds. After 95 days at sea, he finished 17th in the 2020-2021 Vendée Globe. In October 2021, Alan Roura and his sponsors announced the purchase of a new IMOCA 60 for the Vendée Globe 2024: The ex hugo boss, a 2019 VPLP-Design previously owned by the british skipper Alex Thomson.

The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Ecover 3 was designed by Owen Clark Design, made by the New Zealand-based Hakes Marine and launched in September 2006. The boat is a sister ship to Aviva.
The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Paprec-Virbac 3 was designed in partnership with VPLP and Guillaume Verdier and launched on 18 May 2010 after being built by Cookson Boats in New Zealand.
