Enewetak was a grindcore band formed in Orange, California, in 1994. Enewetak has been called "one of the most progressive hardcore bands of the mid-to-late nineties, overshadowing its contemporaries such as Unruh and Suicide Nation. [1] "

From humble beginnings in garages and coffee houses, Enewetak went on to gain international acclaim for its unique sound and ever-evolving style. Over the course of the band's ten-year career, Enewetak released three full-length studio albums, as well as four seven-inch records and a DVD.

Name

Enewetak took its name from an atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Sound

Enewetak's sound has been described as "brutal hardcore", [2] as well as "damn heavy, with huge roaring grooves and ferocious vocals" [3]

Line up

The original line up of Enewetak consisted of Forrest Locke on vocals -from Orange, CA, Jim Greco on guitar-currently in Florida, Graham Day on guitar, Toby Sterrett on bass guitar and Ben Fall on drums. Fall left the band in early 1995 and was replaced by Patrick Bonfrisco. The following year, Day was replaced by Jack Fitzgerald.

In 1995, the band recorded and released a self-titled seven inch record on Revolutionary Power Tools Records. The following year, Enewetak's first full-length album, And The Beat Goes On, was released on the same label.

Enewetak later recorded additional seven-inch records (including a split with Unruh) and two more full-length albums. Guns. Elvis Loved Them. was released through Kiss of Steel records in 1996 and Onward to Valhalla , the band's only CD, was recorded and released in 1997. During this time, the line up changed slightly, as Javier Van Huss filled in during Sterrett's hiatus, and several guitarists, including Chris Smith and Scooter Funcheon, took over for Fitzgerald while he was away for two years. Myles Sterrett later joined the band as the permanent guitarist.

They reunited in 2015 and played in Garden Grove, California and in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Aftermath

Since the band's final show in 2004, many of the members have joined or started new projects. Locke and the Sterretts were founding members of The Accident. [4] Locke and Toby Sterrett later went on to create Tafkata. Bonfrisco joined The Touching Game in 1999 and Run. Dash. Sprint. in 2002. Jim moved to Jacksonville, Florida; his current projects include Cursed Ruin, [5] Extremely Rotten, Saturnine, [6] Vomikaust [7] and Slounge. [8]

Reunion

To celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the band's first seven-inch, enewetak is reuniting for a show in Phoenix, Arizona, in April 2015.

Killradio is an American punk rock band formed in 2001 in Northridge, Los Angeles, California, United States. They used a mix of music styles, including hardcore, post-punk, ska, funk, and hip-hop. Bad Acid Trip American metal band

Bad Acid Trip is an American metal band currently signed to System of a Down lead singer Serj Tankian's record label Serjical Strike Records. Their 2004 album, Lynch the Weirdo, was produced by Daron Malakian, another System of a Down member. In 2006, they performed on the second stage at the Ozzfest summer tour. The Sleeping was an American post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York, United States, formed in 2003. The band was founded by Cameron Keym, Sal Mignano, and Joe Zizzo from the remains of Skycamefalling. After auditioning twenty-two potential singers, they came across Doug Robinson, former singer/guitarist of the band Stillwelle. Their music has been featured in video games including Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam for the Wii, Madden NFL 07, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage. They released their fourth studio album, The Big Deep, on September 28, 2010.

Chokt is an American industrial rock band featuring Pete Murray of Lo-Pro and Ultraspank, Walter Flakus of Stabbing Westward, and John Stevens of Ghost Machine and The Clay People. The trio recorded an album's worth of material together, releasing songs one by one over the course of 2006 to 2009. It served as an outlet for Murray for songs that didn't quite fit the hard rock sound of Lo-Pro, during the six year gap in between Lo-Pro releases.

First Signs of Frost

First Signs of Frost is an English post-hardcore/tech rock band from South East London. Forming in July 2004, the four piece originally conformed by songwriter / guitarist and vocalist Owen Hughes-Holland along with guitarist Adam Mason, bassist Dan Oehlman and drummer William Gates. After embarking on numerous tours the band made a significant impact on the UK's underground rock scene.

I Rise is an American hardcore punk band from Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. They released an album, an EP, and a split EP on 1917 Records, and Eightfold Path Records, and toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
