Eric Black (writer)

Eric Black is an American journalist. He was a longtime reporter for the Minnesota Star Tribune newspaper, and has also been a Twin Cities blogger. He is currently a columnist for online newspaper MinnPost, primarily writing about politics and the historical background of current issues. [1]

In 2017 the national Society of Professional Journalists presented Black with a Sigma Delta Chi Award for online column writing.

Works

Black is the author of a book entitled Parallel Realities: A Jewish-Arab History of Israel/Palestine. The book gives an overview of the two parties of the conflict, with arguments supporting why either side may be in the right, as well as criticizing them. The book also gives a summary of the historical events leading up to the modern day Israeli-Palestinian conflict. [2]

In late 2012 Black wrote a multi-part series of columns about the U.S. Constitution entitled "Imperfect Union"

The Star Tribune is the largest newspaper in Minnesota. It originated as the Minneapolis Tribune in 1867 and the competing Minneapolis Daily Star in 1920. Gene Weingarten American journalist

Gene Norman Weingarten is an American journalist, and former syndicated humor columnist for The Washington Post. He is the only two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing. Weingarten is known for both his serious and humorous work. Through September, 2021, Weingarten's column, "Below the Beltway," was published weekly in The Washington Post magazine and syndicated nationally by The Washington Post Writers Group, which also syndicates Barney & Clyde, a comic strip he co-authors with his son, Dan Weingarten, with illustrations by David Clark.

R. T. Rybak

Raymond Thomas Rybak Jr. is an American politician, journalist, businessman, and activist who served as the 46th mayor of Minneapolis from 2002 to 2014. In the 2001 election Rybak defeated incumbent Sharon Sayles Belton by a margin of 65% to 35%, the widest margin of victory over an incumbent mayor in city history. He took office in January 2002, and won a second term in 2005 and a third in 2009. In late December 2012, he announced he would not run for another term and was going to be concentrating on his family. Rybak called being mayor his "dream job."

The Minnesota Daily is the campus newspaper of the University of Minnesota, published Monday and Thursday while school is in session, and published weekly on Wednesdays during summer sessions. Published since 1900, the paper is currently the largest student-run and student-written newspaper in the United States and the fourth-largest paper in the state of Minnesota, behind the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The Daily was named best daily college newspaper in the United States in 2009 and 2010 by the Society of Professional Journalists. The paper is independent from the University, but receives $500,000 worth of student service fees funding.
