Eric Lane (legal scholar)

Eric Lane (born 1943) [1] is the Eric J. Schmertz Distinguished Professor of Public Law and Public Service at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. [2] Lane graduated from Brown University in 1965 (not a law degree). He joined the Hofstra Law faculty in 1976 and has taught courses in law and literature, constitutional law, statutory interpretation and the legislative process. [2]

Publications

Lane is the author of three books. His trade book, written with Michael Oreskes, senior managing editor of the Associated Press, "The Genius of America: How the Constitution Saved Our Country and Why It Can Again" [3] received favorable reviews throughout the country.

Lane has previously served as the senior fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law. In that role, he wrote the report with Meg Barnette; "A Report Card on New York's Civic Literacy", which was published in April 2011. [4]

Lane has a long history working in the New York government. In 1990 he chaired the New York City Task Force on Charter Implementation, and from 1986 to 1989, he served as executive director/counsel to the historic New York City Charter Revision Commission. [5]

The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University is a law school located in Hempstead, New York on Long Island, affiliated with Hofstra University. Founded in 1970 and accredited by the ABA in 1971, the school offers a JD, a joint JD/MBA degree, and LL.M degrees in American Law and Family law. It also offers online LL.M and MA degrees in Health Law & Policy, an online LL.M in American Law, and an online M.A. in American Legal Studies. The Law School is on the southern portion of the 244-acre (0.99 km2) Hofstra University campus, in Hempstead, New York. The school was renamed to the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in September 2011.

Deane C. Davis

Deane Chandler Davis was an American attorney and insurance executive from Vermont. Long active in Republican politics, he is most notable for his service as the 74th governor of Vermont from 1969 to 1973.

Thomas Robert Stevens was an American lawyer, politician, and blogger. He founded the Objectivist Party and served as its Chair. Stevens was that party's nominee for President in the 2008 and 2012 United States Presidential elections. He was the founder of the Personal Freedom Party of New York. Additionally he was the President of the Beaux Arts Society, a position he cherished. With an interest in the arts, Dr. Stevens also was a play reviewer for Applause! Applause!.

Anthony Como is a Republican politician from New York City Borough of Queens, New York. He was elected to the 30th district of the New York City Council in 2008 as a Republican, defeating Democrat Elizabeth Crowley, in what had been a reliably Republican district.
