Essam Al-Dabbous is a former Kuwaiti politician, representing the fifth district. Born in 1962, Al-Dabbous studied art and worked in the Kuwait Municipality before being elected to the National Assembly in 2003. Al-Dabbous is considered an Independent deputy and has close ties to the royal family.

The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait was a two-day-long operation conducted by Iraq starting on 2 August 1990, whereby it invaded the neighbouring State of Kuwait, consequently resulting in a seven-month-long Iraqi military occupation of the country. The invasion and Iraq's subsequent refusal to withdraw from Kuwait by a deadline mandated by the United Nations led to a direct military intervention by a United Nations-authorized coalition of forces led by the United States. These events came to be known as the first Gulf War, eventually resulting in the forced expulsion of Iraqi troops from Kuwait and the Iraqis setting 600 Kuwaiti oil wells on fire during their retreat.

It is situated in the northern edge of Eastern Arabia at the tip of the Persian Gulf, bordering Iraq to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south. Fahaheel Stadium or Nayif Al-Dabbous Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Al Fahaheel. This stadium is the second smallest(2000 seats) in the country, and is known for the street fights that litter the alleyways around it. Although this location may not be the safest, it always has a great turnout of fans and is a spectacular place to get a sense of cultural immersion.

23rd Arabian Gulf Cup 2017–18 football competition held in Kuwait

The 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup was the 23rd edition of the biennial football competition for the eight members of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation. It took place in Kuwait from 22 December 2017 until 5 January 2018. Oman won their second title, defeating the United Arab Emirates in the final on penalties following a goalless draw.
