Ettenhausen

Ettenhausen is a village and former municipality in the district of Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland.

The canton of Thurgau is a northeast canton of Switzerland.

It was first recorded in 1278 as Oetenhusen.

The municipality also contained the village Iltishausen. It had 321 inhabitants in 1850, which increased to 395 in 1950 and 941 in 1990.

In 1996 the municipality was incorporated into the larger, neighboring municipality Aadorf.

Aadorf is a municipality in the district of Münchwilen in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. In 1996 Ettenhausen, Guntershausen bei Aadorf and Wittenwil merged into Aadorf.

The Uerikon–Bauma railway is a railway which formerly linked Uerikon, Hombrechtikon, Bubikon, Hinwil, Bäretswil and Bauma in the Swiss canton of Zurich. The line from Uerikon to Hinwil was closed in 1948, and little now remains other than a freight siding in the Bubikon area. From Hinwil to Bauma the line has been preserved by the Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland (DVZO) and sees heritage railway services.
