Chicot County is a county located in the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,800. The county seat is Lake Village. Chicot County is Arkansas's 10th county, formed on October 25, 1823, and named after Point Chicot on the Mississippi River. It is part of the Arkansas Delta, lowlands along the river that have been historically important as an area for large-scale cotton cultivation.

Eudora Alice Welty was an American short story writer, novelist and photographer, who wrote about the American South. Her novel The Optimist's Daughter won the Pulitzer Prize in 1973. Welty received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Order of the South. She was the first living author to have her works published by the Library of America. Her house in Jackson, Mississippi, has been designated as a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public as a house museum.

The Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, is one of the public high school located on the island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands. It serves outstanding students that live in what is colloquially called the "country" or countryside area of the island of St. Thomas. The country designation refers to the East End, a portion of the Southside and Northside districts, and the Tutu District. I.E.K.H.S. also serves the student population on the island of St. John because it lacks a public high school.

The Lakeside School District encompasses 242.54 square miles (628.2 km2) of land including all or portions of Chicot County and Ashley County communities including Lake Village, Eudora, Portland, Dermott, and Montrose, as well as the unincorporated area of Ross Van Ness.
Eudora City Hall is located at 239 South Main Street in Eudora, Arkansas. The two story Art Deco brick building was built in 1936 as part of a Public Works Administration project, to a design by Little Rock architect A. N. McAninch. The front facade is faced in yellow brick, while other sides are faced in red brick; the roof is flat, with a parapet running around the top of the building. The only notable change to its exterior since its construction is the replacement of its wooden front doors with modern plate glass doors.

James Edgar Cain, Jr. was an American football defensive end who played five seasons in the National Football League with the Chicago Cardinals and Detroit Lions. He was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in the seventh round of the 1949 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Alabama and attended Eudora High School in Eudora, Arkansas. Cain was also a member of the Calgary Stampeders Canadian Football League.
