The ERA - European Rental Association is a trade association representing the equipment rental sector in Europe.
ERA was set up in 2006 to promote and represent the equipment rental industry, which was largely overlooked and seen as an integral part of the construction industry itself. ERA represents over 5,000 rental companies in Europe, either directly or through its 15 rental association members (14 national associations and one international).
Its work focuses on 7 main areas:
ERA, like most trade associations, uses working committees which meet regularly throughout the year and develop deliverables that may be of use to member companies and associations.

Direct members of ERA can either be rental associations or rental companies with operations in Europe. Equipment manufacturers and other suppliers to the rental industry can become associate members.
ERA is the co-organiser of the International Rental Exhibition, IRE, which takes place every 3 years and is the largest European trade show for the equipment rental business. The event raises the profile of the rental industry in Europe, standing alongside Intermat and Bauma as the two other large European construction exhibitions.

Operated Equipment Rental is the term used for the rental of large or complex machinery where the rental company supplies an operator or driver to operate the machinery. This is also sometimes referred to as Wet Rental, and Operated Plant. In India, the Middle East and Asia a large percentage of all heavy equipment and cranes are supplied with operator reflecting the comparative youth of training programs for specialized operators in construction companies in those countries.

User Association of Automation Technology in Process Industries (NAMUR), established in 1949, is an international association for users of automation technology and digitalization in the process industries with its headquarters in Leverkusen, Germany. The association represents the interests of, and supports the experience exchange among over 160 member companies and with other associations and organizations. Work results are published in the form of NAMUR recommendations and worksheets and submitted to national and international standardization bodies as proposed standards.
ISO Technical Committee 67 – Materials, equipment and offshore structures for petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries is a technical committee within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO/TC 67 is responsible for developing and maintaining international standards in the worldwide upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas industry. Its role encompasses the harmonisation of standards for facilities, equipment and operations used for drilling, production, pipeline transport and processing of liquids and gaseous hydrocarbons on, and between, offshore oil and gas installations and onshore terminals and oil refineries.
