Evan Crawford is a New Zealand former rugby union player and a current coach.
Crawford started his coach career in his home country, being Rugby Development Manager for NZRU during four years. He was responsible for the entire player and coach development.
He was named as head coach of Portugal in 1999, succeeding João Paulo Bessa and was at the helm of the "Lobos" for 18 months, until September 2001. During this time he increased the results of the Portuguese side, improving his standings in the IRB World ranking from 33 to 15.
The Portugal national rugby union team is rated as a performance team in the World Rugby four-band classification system, the second highest. Portugal had their first match in 1935 and now compete in the European Nations Cup and occasionally in the IRB Nations Cup. The team as well as all rugby union in Portugal is administered by the Federação Portuguesa de Rugby. Portugal qualified for their first Rugby World Cup in 2007 where they were grouped in Pool C along with New Zealand, Italy, Romania and Scotland. They are nicknamed Os Lobos, Portuguese for "The Wolves".
João Paulo de Castro Silva Bessa is a Portuguese architect, journalist and a former rugby union player and coach. He also played football and tennis.
He later was Head of Coach Department at the RFU, in Twickenham, England. He then returned to his home country, in 2007, to be the first High Performance Manager at Wellington Rugby Football Union, the first provincial union to make such an appointment.

A head coach, senior coach, or manager is a professional at training and developing athletes. They typically hold a more public profile and are paid more than other coaches. As of 2018, Erasmus is the South African national team's head coach, doubling up on his duties as the first ever SARU Director of Rugby, which he was appointed towards the end of 2017.
Robert Maxwell Deans is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former player, currently the head coach of Japanese club Panasonic Wild Knights. He was head coach of the Australian national team between 2008 and 2013. Deans had previously coached the Crusaders for eight seasons and was an assistant coach of New Zealand between late 2001 and 2003. As the coach of the Crusaders, Deans has won more Super rugby titles than any other. He has also coached Canterbury in the National Provincial Championship, winning the title in 1997. As a player, Deans represented Canterbury, first playing at fly half, and later fullback. He also played nineteen matches for the All Blacks, including five tests.
Luke Gross is an American former rugby union player and current rugby coach and administrator. A lock who played for various club sides, he earned 62 caps for the United States between 1996 and 2003. Gross was the all-time caps leader for the United States, until Mike MacDonald broke his record in 2011.
James Whitinui Joseph is a New Zealand former rugby union player and current rugby union coach. A flanker, Joseph represented Otago at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1992 to 1995, before representing Japan in 1999. Joseph, now head coach of the Japanese national side, has coached since his retirement, coming through the ranks in New Zealand before his first national stint.
