In 2014, Halifax acquired the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester, Massachusetts. In November 2014, New Media Investment Group announced its acquisition of Halifax. The company was created with the assistance of Stephens Inc.

The 1921 Nevada Sagebrushers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Nevada as an independent during the 1921 college football season. In their third season under head coach Ray Courtright, the team compiled a 4–3–1 record and outscored its opponents by a total of 183 to 113. The Sagebrushers were the first team to score against the 1921 California Golden Bears football team that was recognized as the 1921 national champion. The Sagebrushers were also the only team to defeat the 1921 Utah Agricultural Aggies football team that won the Rocky Mountain Conference championship.
