Futebol Clube de Luanda is one of the most traditional football clubs in Luanda. Founded on January 30, 1933, as an affiliate to Portugal's F.C. Porto, the club has been inactive since independence with only few minor underage training activities taking place. The club was the legitimate owner of the Estádio da Cidadela, having inaugurated it on June 10, 1972, before it was nationalized shortly after independence. [1]
The club has been long without proper management and has been run by secretary general Alberto de Almeida and board member Roberto Brooks.
Former prominent athletes include current president José Eduardo dos Santos and Angola's football giant Ndunguidi Daniel.

Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport, is the main international airport of Angola. It is located in the southern part of the capital Luanda, situated in the Luanda Province. Quatro de Fevereiro means 4 February, which is an important national holiday in Angola, marking the start of the armed struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime on 4 February 1961. In 2009, about 1.8 million passengers were counted.
The Angolan football Cup is the main "knockout" cup competition in Angolan football.
Estádio da Cidadela is a football stadium in Luanda, Angola. It is used mostly for football matches, while hosting from time to time cultural events, including musical concerts. It is part of the Complexo Desportivo da Cidadela, along with the Pavilhão da Cidadela, Pavilhão Anexo and Pavilhão Anexo II. While originally holding 40,000 people, in 2006, the stadium's upper ring has been declared unsafe by CAF and banned for public use. Cidadela is currently home to Angolan league club Progresso do Sambizanga.
Sport Luanda e Benfica, commonly known as Benfica de Luanda, or simply as Benfica, is a football club from Luanda, Angola. The club was established as the Luanda affiliate of SL Benfica of Portugal, and shares the same colours. The logo is also very similar to the Portuguese one. The club, as of 2019, has never won the Girabola.
Girabola, or Campeonato Nacional de Futebol em Séniores Masculinos, is the top division of Angolan football. It is organized by the Angolan Football Federation.
Football is the most popular sport in Angola, followed by basketball. The national team qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and many Angolan footballers play internationally, particularly in Portugal and France. The top national league is the Girabola. The country was a Portuguese colony since the late 15th century. And so it was the Portuguese who popularized football here. Football in Angola is still shaped by its Portuguese origins and relationships, for example through a number of affiliates of the Portuguese clubs Benfica Lisbon and Sporting Lisbon. Also, many Angolan footballers play internationally, especially in Portugal, but also in France, but mostly in lower leagues.
Portuguese Angolan is a person of Portuguese descent born or permanently living in Angola. The number of Portuguese Angolans dropped during the Angolan War of Independence, but several hundreds of thousands have again returned to live and work in Angola in the 21st century.
Education in Angola has four years of compulsory, free primary education which begins at age seven, and secondary education which begins at age eleven, lasting eight years. Basic adult literacy continues to be extremely low, but there are conflicting figures from government and other sources. It is difficult to assess literacy and education needs. Statistics available in 2001 from UNICEF estimated adult literacy to be 56 percent for males and 29 percent for women. On the other hand, the university system has been developing considerably over the last decade.

The Estádio 11 de Novembro is a multi-use stadium in Luanda, Angola. Completed in 2010 ahead of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, it hosted nine matches during the tournament, including five Group A matches, one group b match, one quarter final, one semi-final, and the final.

Atlético Sport Aviação, commonly known as ASA, is a basketball club from Luanda, Angola. The club's men's team competes at the local level, at the Luanda Provincial Basketball Championship and in the Angolan Basketball League.
Sporting Clube de Luanda best known as Sporting de Luanda, is an Angolan multisports club based in Luanda. The club's football team, while being one of the most ancient and traditional clubs in Luanda, has been out of major competition due to financial reasons.
Atlético Petróleos de Luanda is a multisports club from Luanda, Angola. The club's men's roller hockey team competes at local level, at the Luanda Provincial Roller Hockey Championship and at the Angolan Roller Hockey Championship. The roller hockey team of Petro Atlético has been the most titled team in Angola for many years. In recent years however, its leadership has been successfully challenged by Juventude de viana and Académica de Luanda, in more recent years.
