Facta is an encyclopedia in Finnish. It was published as a series of 11 volumes with more than 150,000 entries between 1969 and 1974. It describes subjects from a Finnish point of view. It was run by editors in chief Veli Valpola and Maija Numminen and published by Tietosanakirja Oy. [1] Editions were eventually also published on CD-ROM, and Facta finally lived as an Internet service, but was discontinued at the end of 2011 as unprofitable. [2]

Julius Krohn

Julius Leopold Fredrik Krohn was a Finnish folk poetry researcher, professor of Finnish literature, poet, hymn writer, translator and journalist. He was born in Viipuri and was of Baltic German origin. Krohn worked as a lecturer on Finnish language in Helsinki University from the year 1875 and as a supernumerary professor from 1885. He was one of the most notable researchers into Finnish folk poetry in the 19th century. His native language was German.

Eva-Christina Mäkeläinen is a Finnish diplomat, a Licentiate of Social Sciences degree and a PhD in Philosophy. She served as deputy director of the Department for the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1976 to 1980. She has been an ambassador in Athens from 1980 to 1985, in Copenhagen 1985-1990 in Vienna and Ljubljana in 1995-1998 .

Yrjö Väänänen Finnish diplomat

Yrjö Olavi Väänänen was a Finnish diplomat. He was a Licentiate in Law and was an Ambassador in Bonn from 1973 to 1974, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1974 to 1976, Undersecretary of State from 1976 to 1977, Ambassador in Copenhagen from 1977 to 1985, Counselor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1985–1986.

Åke Rudolf Wihtol was Secretary of State for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1985 until his retirement in 1991. He made a great career in foreign affairs in both Finland and abroad. From his education, Wihtol was a lawyer and a bachelor.

Jorma Kalervo Inki Is a Finnish diplomat, a Bachelor of Political Science degree. He has been the Finnish Ambassador in Belgrade 1988–1991. Head of the Administrative Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs 1991–1993, Ambassador in Oslo 1993–1999 and in Prague 2003–2007.

Veli Arthur Helenius was a Finnish diplomat and lawyer.

Erkki Kalervo Mäentakanen was a Finnish diplomat, a Bachelor of Business Economics. He was an Ambassador in Tel Aviv and Nicosia from 1982 to 1984 and thereafter Head of Department of the Department of Commerce of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1984–1988. Then he was an Ambassador in Ottawa 1988-1991 and at The Hague 1991–1997.

Karl Torsten Tikanvaara until 1936 Wikman was a Finnish diplomat and a lawyer. He was Finnish Permanent Representative in the UN in Geneva from 1955 to 1959, Head of the Administrative Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, 1959–1961, Commercial Representative in Cologne 1961–1964, and Ambassador to Canada in Ottawa, 1964–1967. and Caracas and Lima 1967–1976.

Seppo Taito Pietinen was a Finnish diplomat and lawyer with title of Master in Law. He was an Ambassador in Dar es Salaam from 1971 to 1973, and in Addis Ababa and Lusaka from 1972 to 1973, then Deputy Head of Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1973–1976, Ambassador in Vienna from 1976 to 1980 and at the same time the Finnish Permanent UN mission and the Holy See 1977–1980, In Lima, 1980–1983, in Bogota, 1980–1982 Head of the Political Department of the Foreign Ministry 1983– Ambassador to Paris 1986–1988.

Carl Arne Hartman was a Finnish diplomat, a licentiate of political science. He was an ambassador to Baghdad from 1990 to 1991 and minister counselor in Copenhagen since 1992. Hartman was head of the Office for Political Affairs in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 1990 and foreign affairs counselor from 1991 to 1992. He was a secretary at the Finnish embassy in Lusaka from 1974 to 1978.

Unto Kalervo Tanskanen is a Finnish diplomat and lawyer. He has been Finnish Ambassador to Hanoi from 1974 to 1977, and to Nairobi and to Addis Ababa from 1977 to 1980, and to Tehran and to Islamabad from 1980 to 1983, and since 1983 a negotiating official in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Veikko Lauri Hietanen was a Finnish diplomat, with a degree in Political Science. He was Finnish ambassador to Addis Ababa and Nairobi from 1971 to 1977, a negotiating officer from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1977 to 1981 and Finnish Ambassador to Beirut and Damascus 1981– 1984.

Garth Christopher Castrén is a Finnish diplomat, a master of political science education. He has been Finnish Ambassador to Lusaka, 1984–1987, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, 1987, Deputy Director of the Development Cooperation Department 1988–1989, Consul General in New York City–1992 and Ambassador to Cairo 1992–1997 and in Ankara from 2000 to 2004.

Miss Europe 1968 was the 31st edition of the Miss Europe pageant and the 20th edition under the Mondial Events Organization. It was held in Kinshasa, Congo-Kinshasa on September 23, 1968. Leena Marketta Brusiin of Finland, was crowned Miss Europe 1968 by out going titleholder Paquita Torres Pérez of Spain. The pageant was originally scheduled to be held in Nice, France in May but was postponed due to the May-June 1968 civil unrest in France. Congo-Kinshasa later requested the pageant be hosted in their country because they saw it as a good advertisement for them.
