Fernando Soto (15 April 1911 - 11 May 1980) was a Mexican actor. [1] He appeared in more than one hundred films from 1938 to 1977. He was the son of the actor Roberto Soto.

He played an important role in Francisco Pizarro's conquest of the Inca Empire in Peru, but is best known for leading the first European expedition deep into the territory of the modern-day United States. He is the first European documented as having crossed the Mississippi River.
