The Finnish Cricket Championships have their roots in the 1960s, when the "Palmerston community" played their first matches in Tapiola, Espoo. The Cricket Club of Helsinki (Helsinki CC) was the first official team in Finland, and it began playing in the 1970s. Annual matches with the British Embassy in Stockholm were held against the team. It is also known that matches were held against some of the British who lived in Moscow.
The Finnish Cricket Association (Suomen Krikettiliitto ry) was created in 1999 to develop and organize the game of cricket in Finland. Cameron Leon White is an Australian former international cricketer who captained the national side in Twenty20 Internationals. A powerful middle order batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler, White made his first-class cricket debut as a teenager in the 2000–01 season for the Victoria cricket team as a bowling all-rounder. During his time with Australia, White won the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
The Norway national cricket team is the team that represents Norway in international cricket matches. The Stadin Derby, or The Helsinki Derby, is the name for a Helsinki association football fixture played between HIFK Fotboll and HJK Helsinki. The name of the derby derives from the common slang word nickname for Helsinki (Stadi), widely used by the locals. Both the teams play at the highest level of football in Finland, in Veikkausliiga. Before 2015, the clubs had not faced each other at the highest level since 1972 when HIFK got relegated from the top league, which was then known as Mestaruussarja.
The 1994–95 Wills Triangular Series was a One Day International cricket tournament played entirely in Pakistan. It was held in October, with players from Australia, South Africa and Pakistan. Tournament started with the match between Australia and South Africa. In the final, Australia defeated Pakistan by 64 runs to win the tournament.
Janak Prakash is a player for the Singapore national cricket team. Janak is an all-rounder. He also played for the Singapore U'19s at age of 16 in Sri Lanka. In October 2018, he was named in Singapore's squad in the Eastern sub-region group for the 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 Asia Qualifier tournament. Later the same month, he was named in Singapore's squad for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament in Oman.
The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was played as part of qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The sub regional tournaments were scheduled to take place in June and July 2021 in Finland and Belgium, with the regional final taking place in October 2021 in Spain. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
