Flag captain (Swedish : Flaggkapten) was in the Swedish Navy a captain or commander who served as deputy to a fleet commander. During the 1900s, the flag captain served as chief of staff of Flaggen, the staff of the Chief of the Coastal Fleet.
A flag captain was a naval officer in the Swedish Navy holding the rank of captain or commander, appointed as the chief of staff to the 'highest commanding officer.' [1] If he was a flag officer, the flag captain would carry the flag, designated as the command sign, with the standard prescribed for the 'squadron commander'; otherwise, they would carry the broad pennant (galjadett) designated for the 'department commander'. [2] According to regulations in force before 1875, a flag captain was an officer of the rank of flag officer or regimental officer, assigned to assist the commander of a fleet consisting of at least six ships of the line, frigates, or battalion of archipelago ships. [1]
Between 1904 and 2000, the flag captain served as chief of staff of Flaggen, the staff of the Chief of the Coastal Fleet. [3]
Admiral (Adm) (Swedish: Amiral, Am) is a four-star commissioned naval officer rank in the Swedish Navy. Admiral ranks immediately above vice admiral and is equivalent to general.
Naval Staff is the staff of the Chief of the Swedish Navy. Established in 1907, it originated from the Fleet Staff which was established in 1896. The Naval Staff's duties included, among other things to assist the Chief of the Navy with leadership of the Navy's mobilization, training, tactics, organization, equipment and personnel to the extent that such activity was not directly related to operational activities, which was handled by the Defence Staff. In 1994, the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters took over the Naval Staff's duties. The Naval Staff was reestablished in 2019.

General Gustaf Fredrik Oskar Uggla was a senior Swedish Army officer. Uggla's senior commands include commanding officer of the Military Academy Karlberg, executive officer of Svea Life Guards and commander of the 2nd Army Division. He also served as Chief of His Majesty's Military Staff from 1910 to 1924.
Lieutenant General Herman Georg Waldemar Wrangel was a senior officer in the Swedish Coastal Artillery. He served as commanding officer of the Swedish Coastal Artillery for 15 years (1909–1924). Wrangel served as secretary, member and chairman of a number of committees and commissions. Wrangel was also a member of the Upper House of the Riksdag and a member of the Committee on Defence as well as of the Committee of Supply.
The Fleet Staff was a staff in the Swedish Navy created in 1884, which corresponded to the General Staff of the Swedish Army. It consisted of a commander of the rank of a flag officer or captain and of a number of officers of the Swedish Navy and the Swedish Coastal Artillery, who were commanded to serve in the staff. The task of the Fleet Staff was to draw up plans for the mobilization of the navy and to deal with issues concerning the establishment and use of the navy; to follow and make suggestions for staff training and exercises; to follow the development of the naval warfare within and outside Sweden; to carry out naval history research, prepare the necessary statutes, regulations, etc.; and to carry out investigations into naval issues. The Fleet Staff was renamed on 31 December 1907 and became the Naval Staff.
Admiral Henning Wilhelm Mauritz von Krusenstierna was a senior Swedish Navy officer. von Krusenstierna's served as head of the Military Office of the Ministry for Naval Affairs (1906–1909), as Flag Captain (1909–1915), as Minister for Naval Affairs (1910–1911) and as Chief of the Naval Staff (1916–1927).
