Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg, also known as Strasbourg Minster, is a Catholic cathedral in Strasbourg, Alsace, France. Although considerable parts of it are still in Romanesque architecture, it is widely considered to be among the finest examples of Rayonnant Gothic architecture. Architect Erwin von Steinbach is credited for major contributions from 1277 to his death in 1318, and beyond through his son Johannes von Steinbach, and his grandson Gerlach von Steinbach, who succeeded him as chief architects. The Steinbachs's plans for the completion of the cathedral were not followed through by the chief architects who took over after them, and instead of the originally envisionned two spires, a single, octagonal tower with an elongated, octagonal crowning was built on the northern side of the west facade by master Ulrich von Ensingen and his successor, Johannes Hültz. The construction of the cathedral, which had started in the year 1015 and had been relaunched in 1190, was finished in 1439.

Felix and Regula are Coptic Orthodox and Roman Catholic saints, together with their servant Exuperantius, and are the patron saints of Zürich, their feast day being 11 September at the head of the Coptic Calendar. Felix and Regula were members of the Theban legion under Saint Maurice, stationed in Agaunum in the Valais. When the legion was to be executed in 286, they fled, reaching Zürich via Glarus before they were caught, tried and executed.

At one point the church served as the de-facto cathedral for the Archbishopric of Cologne, because it is the major church of what was then the Archbishop-Elector's residence. Saint Florentius was a North African bishop during the latter Roman Empire, venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church. He is known to history from hagiographies and the Notitia Provinciarum et Civitatum Africae Bishop Florients He was Bishop of Simminensis, 30 km east of Carthage in Roman North Africa. He suffered the persecution at the hand of the Arian, Vandal king Huneric for his role in the Council of Carthage of 484 where he supported, the Catholic position rejecting Arianism. He was Exiled to Corsica and forced to hard labor, there continued his apostolic work until his death. Also according to tradition, he was initially buried in the town that bears his name, San Fiorenzo. In 760 the bishop of Treviso, Titian, through a vision, discovered his relics and transferred them to his city, placing them in the church of St. John the Baptist. Currently his remains are on display to the public worship in the Cathedral of Treviso.
