George Henry "Frank" Hamilton (30 April 1863 – 7 August 1901) was a South African international rugby union player. [1]
Born in Cape Town, he first played provincial rugby for Eastern Province. He made his only Test appearance for South Africa during Great Britain's 1891 tour. He played as a forward in the 1st Test of the series, a 4–0 loss at St George's Park. [2] Hamilton died in 1901, in Vanrhynsdorp, at the age of 38. [3]

The team has represented South African Rugby Union in international rugby union since 30 July 1891, when they played their first test match against a British Isles touring team. Currently, the Springboks are the top-ranked rugby team in the world and reigning World Champions, having won the World Cup a record four times. South Africa have won half of the Rugby World Cups they have participated in and are also the second nation to win the World Cup consecutively.
Schalk Willem Petrus Burger Jr. is a South African former professional rugby union player. He played as a flanker for Saracens in the English Premiership and has won 86 caps for South Africa.
John William Smit, OIS, is a South African former professional rugby union player and former chief executive officer of the Sharks. He was the 50th captain of the Springbok rugby union team and led the team to win the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He played most of his senior career as a hooker, but also won 13 caps as a prop, where he had also played for South Africa's under-21 team. He retired from international rugby following the 2011 Rugby World Cup as the most-capped South African player ever, with 111 appearances.
Bryan Gary Habana OIS is a South African former professional rugby union player. Playing mainly as a wing, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He played for the Golden Lions, the Blue Bulls and Western Province in South Africa, for the Bulls and the Stormers in Super Rugby, and for Toulon in the French Top 14, and won 124 caps for the South Africa national team.

Tendai Mtawarira is a Zimbabwean-South African retired professional rugby union player who last played for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby and previously for the South Africa national team and the Sharks in Super Rugby. He was born in Zimbabwe and qualified for South Africa on residency grounds, before later acquiring South African citizenship. Mtawarira, a prop, is known by the nickname Beast.
The 2009 Tri Nations Series was the fourteenth annual Tri Nations rugby union series between the national rugby union teams of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, respectively nicknamed the All Blacks, Wallabies, and Springboks. The Springboks secured the season crown in their final match on 12 September, defeating the defending series champion All Blacks 32–29 in Hamilton.
Ruben Jacobus Kruger was a South African rugby union player. He played as a flanker. He had two daughters Zoë and Isabella. Isabella played quarter final on the junior tournament at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.
Coenraad Frederik "Popeye" Strydom was a South Africa national rugby union team player. In all, Strydom made six appearances for the Springboks between 1955 and 1958.
George Philip "Butch" Lochner was a South African international rugby union player. He made nine appearances for the Springboks between 1955 and 1958, mostly as a number eight. He also scored two tries during his international career, at a time when tries were worth three points. Lochner, who studied agriculture at the University of Stellenbosch, started playing provincial rugby with Western Province in 1951, before moving to Boland in 1954. He made his international debut for South Africa during the 3rd Test of the 1955 British Lions tour at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria. The match was won by the Lions, giving them a 2–1 lead in the four Test series. He was not selected for the 4th Lions Test, but was included in the squad for the 1956 tour of Australia and New Zealand. He played in all six of the tour Tests, including two victories over Australia. After Australia, the Springboks travelled to New Zealand to compete in a four Test Series. Following a loss in Dunedin and a win in Wellington, the series with the All Blacks was level going into the 3rd Test at Lancaster Park, Christchurch. Lochner, playing as a flanker, scored a try as South Africa lost the match 17–10. New Zealand went on to win the series 3–1. He then played in both Tests of France's 1958 tour. He scored a try in the opening match, a 3–3 draw at Newlands Stadium, Cape Town, before making his final appearance as a Springbok in the 2nd Test at Ellis Park, Johannesburg. France won the game to take the series 1–0.

Henry Arthur "Patats" Cloete was a South African international rugby union player. Born in Cape Town, he first played provincial rugby for Western Province. He made his only Test appearance for South Africa during Great Britain's 1896 tour. He played as a forward for the 4th Test of the series, a 5–0 win at Newlands Stadium. Cloete died in 1959, in Bulawayo, at the age of 85.
Coenraad Victor Oosthuizen, nicknamed 'Coenie' or 'Shrek', is a professional rugby union player for Sale Sharks in the English Premiership. He previously represented the Free State Cheetahs and Sharks in the Currie Cup, the Cheetahs and Sharks in Super Rugby and also was chosen for the Springboks squad in 2010, 2011 and 2012, making his test debut in the first test against England in Durban in 2012.

Villager Football Club was established on 2 June 1876 and claims to be the second oldest rugby club in Cape Town, South Africa. Villager FC were scheduled to play against Stellenbosch Rugby Football Club in the first official match at Newlands Stadium after it opened on 31 May 1890. Many notable South African rugby players began their careers at the club, including Paddy Carolin, vice-captain on the 1906 Springbok tour to Europe, and former 800m track world record holder Marcello Fiasconaro.
Gerhard Hamilton Brand was a Springbok rugby union footballer who played in 16 tests between 1928 and 1938. Brand has been described as the best kicker of his era, as well as a "magnificent defensive player" with a "wonderful tackle". According to Guinness World Records he executed the longest drop goal in rugby union to date. Brand's 55 test career points for the Springboks set a 27-year record (1938–65), which was eventually surpassed by Keith Oxlee.
