Frank "Lefty" Stevens was an American pitcher and outfielder who played for several Negro league baseball teams throughout the 1920s and early 1930s. [1]
Stevens began his career with the Toledo Tigers of the Negro National League in 1923. [1] He joined the Chicago American Giants in 1925 as both a pitcher and outfielder. [2] He started the team's first game of the year in a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blues. [3] By 1927,he joined the St. Louis Stars,but he was released before the start of the 1928 season and signed with the Cleveland Tigers. [4]

David Brown was a left-handed pitcher in Negro league baseball. Considered one of the better pitchers in Negro league history,he was also known for serious off-the-field problems. His career came to a premature end when he became a fugitive after allegedly killing a man in 1925.
Phillip "Fish" Cockrell,born Philip Cockrell Williams,was a baseball player in the Negro leagues.
Cornelius Randall Robinson was a professional baseball player in the Negro leagues. Robinson was also known by his nicknames Neil,Neal,and Shadow. He primarily played centerfield,but also played short stop,left field,and third base. He played from 1930 to 1952,mostly for the Memphis Red Sox. He also played with the Homestead Grays and Cincinnati Tigers. He was best known as a power hitter. Robinson had several seasons with a batting average greater than .300,and in 1939 and 1940,he won back-to-back Negro American League home run titles.
Merven John "Red" Ryan,born Mervin Ferguson,was an American baseball pitcher in the Negro leagues. He played from 1915 to 1932 with several teams,playing mostly with the Hilldale Club.
The Memphis Red Sox were an American Negro league baseball team that was active from 1920 to 1959. Originally named the Barber College Baseball Club,the team was initially owned and operated by Arthur P. Martin,a local Memphis barber. In the late 1920s the Martin brothers,all three Memphis doctors and businessmen,purchased the Red Sox. J. B. Martin,W. S. Martin,and B. B. Martin,would retain control of the club till its dissolution in 1959. The Red Sox played as members,at various times,of the Negro Southern League,Negro National League,and Negro American League. The team was never a titan of the Negro leagues like wealthier teams in northern cities of the United States,but sound management lead to a continuous thirty-nine years of operation,a span that was exceeded by very few other teams. Following integration the team had five players that would eventually make the rosters of Major League Baseball teams and two players that were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Porter Moss was an American Negro league baseball submarine style pitcher who played primarily for the Cincinnati Tigers and the Memphis Red Sox and was a three-time participant in the Negro league All-Star game. While returning to Memphis after a game,Moss was murdered in an altercation at the age of 34.
Edward Rile,nicknamed "Huck",was an American Negro league pitcher and first baseman who played for several teams from 1918 to 1936.
