Bremanger is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village of Svelgen is the administrative centre of the municipality. Other villages include Bremanger, Berle, Davik, Isane, Kalvåg, Svelgen, Rugsund, and Ålfoten. Bremanger is the only municipality in Vestland, which is located in two districts. The northern and eastern parts comprising the villages of Oldeide, Berle, Rugsund, Davik, Isane, and Ålfoten is located in the Nordfjord region, while the villages of Bremanger, Kalvåg, Svelgen, Sørgulen, and Botnane are located in the Sunnfjord region. Politically, the municipality works with the Nordfjord region in the council of Nordfjord municipalities.

The main population center of Sør-Frøya was the village of Titran on the western tip of the island. The main church for the municipality was Hallaren Church which is located in Storhallaren on the southern coast of the island.

The Frøya official football team is the official football team for the Norwegian municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county. They are not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA. Frøya is a member of the International Island Games Association and has taken part in Football at the Island Games.

The highest point on the island is the 889-metre (2,917 ft) tall mountain Svartevassegga, however the cliff at Hornelen, located 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the east, is more well-known and has an elevation of 860 metres (2,820 ft). It is located in the village of Kalvåg, on the southern coast of the small island of Frøya. It is the church for the Frøya parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1865. The architect was the painter artist Anders Askevold from the nearby Askvoll municipality. The church seats about 400 people.

The Bortne Tunnel is a road tunnel in Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The 4,758-metre (15,610 ft) long tunnel was built from 2010 to 2013 and was opened in the summer of 2013. The tunnel is part of Norwegian County Road 616 and it connects the village of Bortnen to an area along lake Sørdalsvatnet, about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north of the municipal center of Svelgen.

The island lies in a large archipelago of islands in the Frøyhavet sea, just northwest of the entrance to the Trondheimsfjorden. The Frøyfjorden lies to the south of the island and that separates it from the large island of Hitra.
