Tirana is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Albania.
Edi Rama is an Albanian politician, artist, writer and former basketball player, who has been the 42nd Prime Minister of Albania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2013 and January 2019, respectively. Rama has also been Chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania since 2005. Before his election as Prime Minister, Rama held a number of other positions. He was appointed Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in 1998, a position that he held until 2000.
Lulzim Basha is an Albanian conservative politician who was Mayor of Tirana, the capital of Albania, from 2011 to 2015. He has also been leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, the main opposition party, since 2013.

Sadik Kaceli was an Albanian painter. He studied in Paris at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1936–1941). Kaceli was one of Albania's best known painters. He was awarded with the People's Artist of Albania and the Honour Citizen of Tirana medal. He created the first series of the Albanian lek. In 1994 he received the People's Artist of Albania through Sali Berisha. In 2016 Sadik Kaceli was given the Honor of Nation Order. He is one of the founders of National Art Gallery of Albania, designed the first version of the Albanian lek, made the People's Republic of Albania Coat of Arms.

The 1911 Fier Fair Football Tournament is widely considered to be the first football competition to take place in Albania, which was then administration by the Ottoman Empire. The tournament ran between 7–14 April 1911 and consisted of 8 teams, which were Tirana, Elbasani, Kavaja, Berati, Peqini, Vlora, Fieri and Lushnja. Tirana won the tournament after defeating Peqini 6–1 in the final.
Erion Veliaj is an Albanian politician, who is currently serving as the 42nd Mayor of Tirana. Stemming from a civil society activism organization as the leader of “MJAFT!”, Veliaj joined the ranks of the Socialist Party of Albania in 2011, when he was appointed Secretary for Youth and Immigration.
